I know we have some Oak Street fans. Their entire line of "trench boots' is on sale at 15%. I don't have any experience with the line, but the lasts look pretty nicely designed. Here's a link:

Seriously though, this pre-dates Obama. My wife told me to stop calling them "thongs" about 10 years ago.

I don't think I ever called flip flops thongs. I do call them sandals all the time. Maybe it's a regional thing, like "pop" for soda.

In the south, all soda is "coke." "Is Pepsi ok?" "Yeah that's fine."

I've never called them thongs. Sandals is what I would call something with an ankle strap like a Teva.

I always looked at flip flops like a subset of sandals, with Tevas and birkenstocks (shudder) being other subsets.

Yep. I called then that until I had my 10 year old daughter with me one day and told her I was going to get new thongs and asked if she wanted to help me pick them out. Think the poor kid was traumatized for life.

I'm glad I'm not going crazy. It's a balmy 85 in MI today, so I'll probably break out the thongs.
