Never tried it. I'd try a clay bar before I'd resort to steel wool as there's no risk of damaging the glass.

Is it water spots? Meguiar's makes a good water spot remover you can use on glass.

Go over it with a razor blade first and then clay bar it. Steel wool works but you can over do it.

It's a special "clay" meant for lifting contaminants from your paint. It's more like taffy than clay in consistency.

Is your windshield scratched? Cerium oxide will remove fine scratches from glass.

I'd say no - it'll fuck it up, otherwise I'll look forward to the mattcantcleanawindshield thread.

Use glass cleaner like everyone else

Get a bug scrub pad. If that doesn't work then it's not worth worrying about. If you're still flustered then buy a bicycle.
I think I'm going to start vying for get off my lawn status.

Not scratched, just doesn't seem to clean well.

Careful scraping followed by a clay bar should work well.

The razor is your best solution, but make a soapy mixture with Dawn and water to keep the glass well lubricated to avoid scratches.
