Let's talk gloves
I'm talking winter, not rubber.
So, what do you all wear? Here in the inland NW, it used to be two speeds: no gloves, and winter gloves.
But we haven't had a real winter here in years. I've got cold weather gloves, ski gloves; hell, I even have battery-heated motorcycle gloves.
But I doubt that I'll need any of that kit. I just need something for 40ish weather to keep my hands from cracking all to hell. What do you all wear when it gets colder?
Thanks in advance for the ideas.

Michael, gloves make this more challenging. Ask Matt before you buy.....

I use Brooks running gloves for when it is chilly out, or even my Woolrich rag wool gloves. When it is out-shit cold I use snowboarding gloves.

Re: Let's talk gloves
I don't usually wear gloves until the temps drop into the 20s but I presume you are wanting something while driving a motorcycle, correct? I wear either a north face glove with grip or a leather glove with cashmere lining, the latter of which is really nice on cold days and looks good.

BTW: my snowboarding mittens are also OR. They make great gear.

Some good ideas, gents.
Not looking for motorcycling, I'm GTG there; leather and Kevlar. Just something to wear walking around town. OR and Brooks look good. Does anyone still make leather dress gloves that are worth a damn?
Keep em coming!

I only wear gloves if I'm shoveling snow - leather work gloves or fleece mittens if it's really cold.

Re: Let's talk gloves
In all seriousness, if you have a local ski/snowboard shop, that might be a good place to start. I usually wear mittens when I ski, and the stuff I've found at my local place blows everything else away when it comes to warmth. If it's going to be really cold, they sell chemically activated hand warmers that you can slip inside the gloves/mittens.
I wish I could remember brand names, but they're sitting in a trunk in my basement right now.
Edit: and now that I've actually read your post and see you're looking for something lighter, I'd recommend checking out LL Bean, REI, or a local running store if you have one - generally good sources of mid-weight gloves/mittens.

Old, tatty pair of brown leather Dents for everyday / work; various "sticky thickies" from a number of outdoor brands that go inside a pair of fleece-lined mitts for winter mountains; and a pair of these for when I wear my G1 or A2(which isn't often these days)
