New Surfboard
New Surfboard
Super pumped today. I ordered a custom board to be made about a month ago by one of the most interesting and artistic shaper's I've ever met. His name is Robert Sakoda and has worked with the best. I told him what I wanted and he delivered. I'll take more pics tonight but in the meantime I have to share the fin since it's a big part of the beauty of the board. I wanted a wooden fin glassed onto the board. Turns out he actually embedded it into the stringer which is even cooler. Here's part of the build process for the fin.
Final result. Time to start waxing over a beer.

Beautiful! Love old school single fin long boards (like my Hanlon).
Now you just have to show us some moves like Tommy Witt:

Killer Old Skool single fin. I ride an Arbor Snowboard and love the look of wood on surf, skate and snowboards.

Re: New Surfboard
Just spent a couple hours on dawn patrol at my local break. 3 - 4 footers this morning so I took my short (for me) board - 6'9 / 45 liters. It is a pretty humbling experience to swap to the short board after a summer of riding the 10' log. You go from being able to have a lazy pop-up and feet can go anywhere to needing to have a snap pop-up and precise foot placement.
David - I'm hoping that new board is about 9'6 with a nice concave nose for some old school nose riding.
