How much do you want to spend? Any preference for materials?
For messenger style bags (which is what I envision when you say "sling bag"), I like Timbuk2. I have a couple of their bags - one is my daily use computer bag which I travel with extensively and the other is a weekend knock about bag which did double duty as a diaper bag when my kids were little. Now it serves as a beach bag / coffee shop bag / library bag.
Both have been beat to crap and still look fine. Style is traditional messenger with the big flap secured by velcro and clasps with a large main pocket. Construction is Cordura nylon with a waterproof liner.

It's ok to just call it a purse.... ::gayumbrella:

Timbuk2 is always my recommendation as well.

FWIW, I also use a Timbuk2 for my iPad and other crap. Good stuff.

This is what I use:
http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/Fat ... 0p1662.htm
Comes in a couple of models with different sizes, colors and external pockets (some with a bottle pockets, some without). Good size, not too big, not too small (will fit an ipad mini).

If you'd like something a bit unique and not likely seen near you, check out these guys: https://www.baileyworks.com/home/ourbags.htmlkempoman wrote:Budget USD100-150. I like a style like this https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/37 ... -sling-bag
Baileyworks is local to me and they make a very good, high quality product. They will customize to meet your requirements - size, colors, features, etc.
I remember seeing their original shop in Portsmouth and now they are located in a renovated mill in Dover. The only reason I don't own one of their bags is I haven't been able to kill my Timbuk2 yet.

Timbuk2 and Rickshaw.
Re: suggestion for sling beg
I notice a lot of votes for TIMBUK2. Any links?

They don't have any slings, but do messengers very well. The custom bags are made in SF, while the remade bags are made overseas. Quality is topnotch on both and their CS is great. They have replaced bags without issue.
I have a few of their messengers and a two rollers.

Rickshaw Bags is run by Mark Dwight, the former CEO of Timbuk2. Same idea, but on a smaller scale.
