Redwing back to the factory

Post by Nomadz » Sun May 03, 2015 7:14 pm

Anyone ever send their Redwings back to Minnesota
For resole and renovation??

Mine look great but I ponder the idea.
Kinda like the beat up look of my 877's.

I would wait a bit more. I like the worn look too. I've been trying to get mine to achieve that look.

Those look great!
I've not sent any of mine back for factory resole, but have heard good things about the process.

Resole used to be done locally. I've had boots resolved by them. It changed the fit and arch of the boot slightly. They couldn't fix the worn out toe and the boot ultimately split and failed.

Here In Denver, Red wing uses a local cobbler..They told me they could send them to the cobbler but since he is one block from my office I stopped in to see their work and the pricing.
Haven't used them yet but getting ready to... on the Beckmans, it is $45/pair to replace the original vibram lug sole and heels.
I think $90 to replace the whole leather sole and the lug sole.
My leather soles are in great shape but the rubber is worn thin..
When I get them done, I'll let you know how they turned out..

Can't see the soles to well in your pic but from this angle they look great.
I would only consider a resole when it wears out to the point that further damage may occur to the boot or if they wear out unevenly and begin to cause problems with the feet knees and low back.

Nothing really just some wear on the soles but not bad.
I like the worn in color my wife's not so impressed
