So to me personally it's not fair to compare these tumblers to Rolex and fake MIC Rolex. More like a rebranded identical product. Not that I condone such practices but if Rolex made the same Sub with a sterile dial or call it Ozark and sold it for 75% less than a Rolex branded Sub, I'd be tempted :)

Edit: of course I don't know how much $ Yeti spent on R&D before they found that Chinese manufacturer so that's probably why they're pissed off and suing
That's not surprising that Yeti and Ozark are made in the same factory! The same is true of store brand meats, where most of the hams are made by Smithfield.

I took an RTIC 30 soft cooler to the beach last week. Works great. I like that the lid opens up all the way vs the yeti which just has a slit.

It kept the beer cold until it was all gone, and it's not so heavy that I couldn't tote it from the house to the beach . Thumbs up from me!

Looks coleman has a newer design out http://www.coleman.com/esky-fishing-coolers.html

I will still with my Coleman Marine extreme if I need to use a cooler. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-Mari ... er/9222616

I gotta believe the Coleman's work just as well as the hyper-expensive brands on the market today.

This thread bump reminded me I wanted to get a new one, so I just bought this:
0009752_xtreme-wheeled-cooler-58l_1100.jpeg
Coleman Extremes seem to perform and rate highly, even if they don't look like anything special.
I wanted wheels, because it sucks to move a full cooler!

Just wanted to report back on the RTIC Softpak 20. I used it pretty extensively on my recent vacation and I can't imagine ever needing anything else in this size. I was using an overpriced Yeti 4lb ice pack to cool things and the beer we bought on Sunday was still pretty cold on Wednesday. Nice and easy to access things with the flip top lid and the zipper opens smoothly with no snags. I like the two small pockets for extra storage on the outside for bottle openers, napkins, etc. My only regret is not going for the 30 size. Maybe next summer.

Arrived three days after I ordered and included zipper grease, which I haven't needed. It's very well built, easy to carry, not too heavy, and easily worth $100 for me.

Every time I see this thread, I think of this:
"Ohio State hopes so and says it has learned its lesson from big matchups such as the Texas game in 2005, in which cleanup crews found several soiled shorts and a few coolers filled with poop"

From the looks of that bicycle tire I'd say you DON'T have serious lack of fun problems. Cool!

Yeah my Coleman extreme worked without precooling, leaving it in my car in the summer (in the sun @ the beach), and still had ice after 4 days. It was all of $50 at BJs

Slightly late to the party. Haven't seen the coolers, but I have 2 Yeti tumblers. The biggest difference between them and my wife's Ozark tumbler is the lid on the Ozark. Definitely cut costs there.
Given the price difference, if I had to buy one (I got the Yetis at work), I'd probably go with the Ozark.
Then again, I'm rarely off the grid.

FYI...RTIC has all stock 25% off now on their site. They raised prices a bit after the Yeti lawsuit revamp, but not too much...

They settled, but RTIC had to redesign their whole line...hence the new look.

Thanks! I can't tell a difference in their new products.

Coolers

Post by Brimstone » Fri Jul 13, 2018 7:08 pm

After spending a week at Lake Powell with temps around 110 degrees, I decided to upgrade my cooler game. I had been checking prices versus reviews and trying to decide when I stumbled across the Lifetime 55qt cooler at Walmart for $97. Reviews have it equal or better than Yeti, made in USA and certified bear proof.

Image

I like the latch design better and the lock opening has a bottle opener.

Edit:
After four days in the July heat. It started full of ice and drinks, probably a little over half full now.

I decided to pick one up as well for an upcoming road trip/camping trip.. For the price, it is worth a shot.

They have a video of their bear test. It is basically just to compare with the claims that Yeti makes. Fun video either way.
