Just a redneck here. I've got no use for fancy Japanese denim that I can't wash, or have to put in the freezer? Wtf? You city folks. Cinch cowboy jeans for me. Rugged, comfy, and made to wear with my shitkickers.

Re: Denim
From what I've read, Levi's stores actually used to have a tub of warm water that a customer could sit in with his new jeans on in order to shrink them. The denim world is definitely eccentric (probably no more so than the watch world, but still).zepp21 wrote:Levi 501's FTW! Ps, anyone like the shrink to fit? Wanted to try them out but it seems like a lot of work.

Cone Mills - Greensboro teh good denim.mechnut wrote:Tellason has several lines utilizing Cone Mills sanforized selvedge denim. +1 on Blue Owl - Jay and Kevin are Great to work with. I currently have Unbranded, Nudie, and Eternal in my closet. Most good denim sites, like Blue Owl, are great resources for their sizing data, but i would recommend finding a "denim boutique" or high end department store to try on.dukerules wrote:Yep, raw denim will shed a litte bit of dye when new.
Ed-don't have any experience with Tellason, mainly because they don't do raw denim. Cool guys though, and I do like the way they do things.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's one way. But if you want to maintain the color that raw denim is known for, special care is needed.marchone wrote:Just wash and dry a couple cycles to shrink, then press and hem afterward. They're yours then.

Re: Denim
It's maintaining the color and also getting the raw denim "fade" that a lot of enthusiasts crave (especially the wear marks at the waist, behind the knees, and on the pockets). Once you put the jeans through the wash, the color sets so that, over time, you get a more uniform fade rather than the lighter and darker spots that the raw denim folks consider more desirable.CesarG wrote:That's one way. I think it's all kind of funny. When my clothing gets dirty, I wash it.
