Better watch it. That cat will put a knot on your head. Ask Robin Ventura.

Denim: I can appreciate the denim gig much more now. I hope I did not look like I was trying to rain on anyone's parade about expensive jeans. I sell fabrics as my business and I know well the differences in cloth weight, origin, construction, dyeing, etc. I sell a range of goods that runs from the "inexpensive" (if you want to call it that) to the quite expensive (if you want to call it that) in decorative fabrics and I know there is a reason for those differences. Honestly, until I opened this thread I literally had no idea that there was such interest in denim and that other dudes even had a clue as to knowing what a selvedge was.

All in all quite cool and interesting.

Enjoy whatever it is you choose to enjoy and :htfu: .

Peace. (We need a peace sign emoji!)

Wranglers are the original cowboy jean. I grew up in Texas and never wore anything but wranglers with boots. These days, I like Cinch cowboy jeans. They are a bit more modern and offer more cuts, but still cowboy.

Think of the sales possibilities with the use of more tactical talk.

So if I get this right, much more expensive, you can't wash them (gross) and they dye your skin and possibly things you sit on? Sounds like some pretentious hipster shit. I can almost go along with "high end" expensive jeans due to cut, fit, origin of manufacturer, "better" materials but this is really pushing it.

I have no problem if people want to spend their money on what they want but I can also think it is dumb.

And smurf legs isn't. Or having to febreeze your clothing because if you clean them they are "ruined"? I guess I can see the parallels from people who are afraid to take their 2xx meter plus dive watches near water.

During WWII, Levi Strauss & Co. made several changes to their jeans in order to deal with government demands for the war. Metal, fabric and even thread was to be conserved. Off came some rivets, which were unbranded, along with the unbranded fly buttons, even the rear stitched arcuate was removed. Levi's considered the rear arcuate an important design element so they decided to hand paint the arcuate. Pocket material also varied and often consisted of shirt material.

It's definitely cool that you can purchase these reproductions. The small details add up to a great and unique pair of jeans.

Here are some detail shots:

Interesting stuff, great pics.

On a related note, I've become a bit of a Gustin whore.

Not raw, but I do wear Tellason Jeans. Once you get your size down I think they are the most comfortable jeans I own. I wear the 16 oz.

Tellason's da good shit. I've had good results with Rogue Territory, Samurai and Eternal too. But it's tough to find anything 37+" inseam so selection is limited for me.

Don't own Tellason, but will remedy that when my OG Roys bite the dust. Great guys behind the company. And one day I need to finally do some Japanese denim.

Some shitty shots of some raw denim progress. These started off as some raw 1954 Levi's 501Zs. 3 rinses, 1 machine wash.

^^^ those look amazing.

I didn't realize there was a denim thread on here. I need to get some pics of my raws up, I've been wearing Studio D'Artisan exclusively for about ten years. When one pair wears out, I just replace them with the exact same pair. I'm about to start working on a new pair myself.
