Denim

These are from the guys behind Naked and Famous. Its the same Japanese denim but made in Asia instead of Canada. The best deal in selvage IMO.
If you want to go higher end check out 3sixteen, pure blue japan, iron heart, RRL.
Also Naked and famous and APC are good mid priced jeans (100-200 bucks).

Re: Denim
Ben listed some good ones. I'm partial to the overpriced but awesome LVCs, esp the 1947. I haven't gotten into Japanese selvedge. Also check out Roy at Self Edge-- he's a one man operation out of SF. If I was starting out, I'd probably get APC new standards, 3 Sixteens, or Unbranded--good gateway drugs to the more expensive stuff.

Re: Denim
Question, as quality jeans are actually a thought on my mind since I wear jeans pretty much 7 days a week (thanks to Cali definition of business casual): do I have to worry about jeans staining things it comes in contact with? My wife is an interior designer and will kill me if her couches and seats and stuff end up all stained blue...

Was thinking the same thing Matt, these jean are fading but not in the washer! I figured besides your legs being blue ( or whatever color you choose) that the dye is getting on everything from car seats, office chair to the wife's furniture.... Think i'lll stick with Levi's & Ralph Lauren.... Oh Yeah, and wash them.... but I'm an old fart so what do I know..

Re: Denim
They're on my list and I recommend them highly, very well made and great guys to work with too. Might I suggest you try a pair of Levi's 501's, for $48 or so they really are that bad. I've got one pair with 2 years wear on them that's my go to pair. I bought another pair recently that the denim is really nice for a sub $50 pair of jeans. Soak them correctly and the fit is good too.fastward wrote:I'm surprised that Tellason isn't on your list.dukerules wrote:Ben listed some good ones. Short answer yes, but depends on the maker.matt.wu wrote:Question, as quality jeans are actually a thought on my mind since I wear jeans pretty much 7 days a week (thanks to Cali definition of business casual): do I have to worry about jeans staining things it comes in contact with? Re: Denim
Tellason has several lines utilizing Cone Mills sanforized selvedge denim. +1 on Blue Owl - Jay and Kevin are Great to work with. I currently have Unbranded, Nudie, and Eternal in my closet. Most good denim sites, like Blue Owl, are great resources for their sizing data, but i would recommend finding a "denim boutique" or high end department store to try on.dukerules wrote:Yep, raw denim will shed a litte bit of dye when new.
Ed-don't have any experience with Tellason, mainly because they don't do raw denim. Cool guys though, and I do like the way they do things.
