Pants, or
as we say in England, trousers! I was looking for some Patagonia Stand Up pants, but I don't think they're available anymore. Has anyone any experience of Mountain Khakis Original Mountain Pant? Looking for some tough, "do-it-all" khakis.
Thanks in advance fellas

Re: Pants, or
I had a couple of pairs of the patagonias at one point; I have no idea what happened to them, now that you mention it.
But I digress. Have a look at the pant selection here, so long as you're at it:

Re: Pants, or
Bill's Khakis. Cost a bit more (and prices seem to be going up), but worth it IMHO.
Re: Pants, or
TNF make decent Khaki's worn them for years. I like 5:11 but then at least here in the US they scream LE so I only wear those at work.

Re: Pants, or
I tried MK last year and the the sizing was all off. They also warn that the pants may shrink, so I gave up on them.
Good luck.
Good luck.

I have a pair of the Mountain Khakis and love them. Very tough but comfortable and warm. I'm not sure if there are sub types of the pant but mind is flannel lined. Highly recommended.
For a much lighter pant, try Kuhl Renedgades. Fit is great and has that slightly stretchy fabric. I have 2 pairs of the pants and 2 of the shorts version.
Re: Pants, or
Yep, bought two pairs of the same size, and one pair was unwearable.fastward wrote:I tried MK last year and the the sizing was all off. They also warn that the pants may shrink, so I gave up on them.

Re: Pants, or
These are some of the best Steve.

These look very promising as well, and I've always wanted to try a pair, but I wear a 31 and these start at 32. Guess I need to drink more beer.
*noticed they have some kind of 2fer sale until February.

Re: Pants, or
Oh yeah, +1 on Bills Khakis. I'd wear them if I wore khakis. I do wear them, actually, but only at work, and so BR, Lands End, Gap, etc. are just fine for me.
Re: Pants, or
Pleated, cuffed khakis FTW.

Thanks guys, Bill's Khakis look great (that sounds wrong ) but the website seems to take ages to load, so will have another look in the morning. Cheers

There are also several retailers who carry them, so you can also just try Googling it and see what comes up.poppydog wrote:Thanks guys, Bill's Khakis look great (that sounds wrong ) but the website seems to take ages to load, so will have another look in the morning. Cheers
I would personally go with the M2 flat front version (not as baggy as the M1).
Please, please, please, for the love of all that's holy, no pleated khakis!

Yep-check Sierratradingpost.com. They have tons of brands-a lot of 2nds etc for good prices. I think they have Bills stuff too.

Re: Pants, or
After discovering that my winter walking boots have been housing a family of mice which chewed out the insides and ordering a new pair, I decided to go with these as I could get them easly from the same site:

And these boots

Thanks for the input guys, but these will do fine for taking the boy climbing and for casual usage

Speaking of khakis, which ones are recommended for dress/casual wear; that don't wrinkle too quickly.

LL Bean does a dress khaki with some sort of wrinkle resistant treatment. Never owned them, so not sure of the quality. However, Bean has an awesome return policy, so they might be worth a shot.

These are the best I've ever owned - beautiful fabric and the finishing is second-to-none. I've stopped wearing them for work as they're too good for that.JBZ wrote:aikiman44 wrote:Speaking of khakis, which ones are recommended for dress/casual wear; that don't wrinkle too quickly.

As does Eddie Bauer. I've worn their wrinkle-resistant khakis for years and they've been great. I do believe they have a stain-repellent feature too.JBZ wrote:aikiman44 wrote:Speaking of khakis, which ones are recommended for dress/casual wear; that don't wrinkle too quickly.

Mountain Khakis----very good...own a pair.....seem very good quality. Have an "outdoor" or "wear me to work " kinda look to them...
? are they made in America?? Can't remember.....
Bill's Khaki's----ARE made in the USA...very high quality. Built on old military uniform patterns from WW2. Super thick fabric. More of a dressier look...Own 4 pair..... Like the flat front ( nonpleated) look best. Flat fronts don't make you look like you have a boner ....
