For dress shoes, I've been wearing AE for decades. You do get what you pay for. Nordstrom and their other sites run sales.

Casual stuff, I really like Martin Dingman.

I dropped off a couple pair of Iron Rangers to the RE store to be re-soled with mini-Vibram, then I noticed these Weekenders and had to give them a try. Just the second day and they are extremely comfortable.

Post a pic when you get them back, I’d be interested in seeing what that looks like before I get mine done. I love the boots, but not a huge fan of the soles.

Is that a crepe rubber sole on the Weekenders?

I think it’s just the regular crepe sole, doesn’t seem to be rubber.

I’m having the rubber mini-vibram put on my two older pair of Iron Rangers. My latest (slate grey) pair of IR’s came with the mini-vibram.

I must say, the Weekenders were comfy the first couple days, but now they are killing the balls of my feet?

Great minds think alike..

There was a version of these in green suede (reverse chamois) in the shop which was very casual and interesting.

Maybe my most favorite made in America dress shoes. Have a pair in Color #8 shell.

Well, they’re kind of chunky. You can wear them with a suit (the purists might balk at that, but screw ‘em), but they also look good with a sport coat and slacks/khakis or even dark jeans.

^I agree. This is my only pair of black shoes (out of 4 total pairs of shoes/boots) so formal/casual I don’t care very much :)

I had a similar experience with the Clarks Desert Boot with the crepe sole. They were extremely comfortable initially, then became less comfortable as they broken in. Maybe the material the sole is made from gets compacted. Also, the soles wore through very quickly.

Might be my feet. I noticed today it feels like my socks are balled up just under the ball of foot, behind my toes - but the socks are not. Odd.

Sport coat and slacks/khakis or even dark jeans sounds business casual :) Nevertheless I like those shoes very much.

Update on the Aldo boots, I used them for 10 days straight walking all over Madrid, Segovia and Toledo. Paired them with some “boot socks” from Gap and they where very comfortable. Very happy with them for the price.

Update on the Lems Trailheads. Got mine in a couple of weeks ago, and have worn them approximately 10 times since then. A couple of hot spots the first two times I wore them, but since then they have been extremely comfortable. They wear close to a no-drop shoe for me, which means comfortably. Nice rugged sole for what is pretty much a sneaker, so I think they'll be good as a lightweight rec hiker and do-anything travel shoe. I spend most of my time at work on my feet doing procedures, and they provide good support for that. One thing is that they are not water resistant, but a little waterproofing spray makes them a good to go in the rain (not sure how well they'll deal with mud and creeks though).

Heading to Iceland at the end of this month and needed wind/water proof comfortable trail boots for walking in the glaciers and around downtown Reykjavik. Picked up these Danner 650's.

^^^ Those look good. I’d love to hear an update with your thoughts once you’ve worn them in a bit.

We got about 14” of snow here last week so it’s been Sorels for me, but the forecast calls for 50°F and rain, so it’ll be puddles and slush next week.

These look like comfortable, waterproof, boots made for walking in just that kind of condition.

The most comfortable boots I’ve had I think - Han Wag Tatra GTXImage. Had never heard of the brand before but needed a pair quickly and was near a Fjallraven store in Boston where they sell them. Highly recommended.

Overall, they are great. I wear them 3-4 days a week. Have worn them for light hiking, and they are up to the task. My only issue is that the synthetic materials get a little stinky at the end of the day. Not like a foot odor smell, almost a chemical-type smell.

I think it was this thread that got me turn onto 1000 mile. Brought several and love them. Fast forward, I see a sale/close-out, a couple years ago and buy a “good buy”

If anybody needs a suede green 1000 mile size 11 boot, let me know. Maybe a Irish fan or a perhaps a shamrock with big feet irking here can use. They have been worn once
