Sneakerhead?

Post by lilhoody » Sun Sep 23, 2012 1:03 pm

No Terry, this is not about covert hot-mouth...move along.

Any other sneakerheads around here besides Matt or Jem?

Check the following 10 signs, courtesy of Complex, to find out if you’re actually a lame sneakerhead…

1. You Cry Publicly When You Miss Out On Releases.
2. You Say “I Need Those” For Every Hype Release.
3. You Tell Everyone How Much Of A Sneakerhead You Are.
4. You Talk About The Good Old Days…Which Was When Your Mom Bought You Sneakers.
5. You Only Know Sneakers By Their Nicknames.
6. You Only Wear One Brand Of Sneakers.
7. You Only Think A Sneaker Is Cool After A Celeb Co-Signs It.
8. The Only Place You Talk To People About Sneakers Is On The Internet.
9. You Only Wear Shoes To Post A Picture of Them On Social Media.
10. You Can’t Admit To Being Guilty Of At Least One Thing On This List.

I have an awesome flip flop collection. You have to be a pretty ghetto adult to collect sneakers.

Nah me either. A pair last me a long time these days.

Quality shoes or boots that are made of leather, that's where I'm at. :fro:

I don't even own a pair of sneakers. Closest I get is magnum or swat tactical boots with the sneaker like soles. I basically always wear a type of boot.

Aha,'Kickers' are the way to go. Each shoe usefully marked with a red tab and dot on one and a green tab and dot on the other. As long as you remember the 'Port' and 'Starboard' colours you always get them on the correct foot

+1. Talk to me about Red Wings, Aldens, AEs, Trickers, etc. and I'm interested. I still wear sneakers I bought in the 1990s.

Quick inventory off top of my head:

(2) Danner Mtn Light2
(2) Danner Ft. Lewis
(2) Danner Combat Hiker
(2) Asolo FSN 95GTX
(1) La Sportiva Makalu
(1) La Sportiva Karakorum
(1) La Sportiva Glacier
(2) Zamberlan Civetta GT
(1) Vasque Sundowner (Italian Made)
(1) Vasque Sundowner (Chinese made junk)
(1) Vasque Summit GTX (Red Wing Leather)

I only buy US or Italian made although Asolo's are made in Romania-but have been for a long time. From my experience Italy makes the best hiking/backpacking/mountaineering boot. The only reason I have Chinese made Vasque sundownders-they were my favorite everyday boot but switched production to China from Italy. Had to try them out and they are not the same thing which blows chimpous maximous. My Italian made ones are 15 years old and still wearable.

Do I qualify?

Not into "sneakers" at all. I have one pair of running shoes (that I run in), one pair of Merril sandals for beach activities, and 2 or 3 pairs of old baseball spikes. Other than that it's boots, or some other form of footwear made from the hide of a dead animal.
