My first bit of Saddleback Leather

Post by matt.wu » Tue Aug 28, 2012 1:00 pm

I know the rest of the posts in this forum are jokes, but maybe it's the most appropriate place for this.

My first purchase from Saddleback Leather arrived today - a medium notebook holder in Tobacco.

Love at first sight. This purchase will definitely not be my last with SBL. I know you've all raved about it, but their customer experience is unparalleled, the product is fantastic, and I spent tons of time watch the YouTube videos that Dave posts. Plus the FAQ about leather is pretty enlightening, even from a very high level.

All in all, I think their prices are pretty reasonable considering the product they put out.

I already have a ton of other stuff in mind. I think the next might be a medium briefcase - I just have to decide on classic or thin. I was really impressed by the amount of stuff that would fit into the thin briefcase, so that might be the way for me to go. Tobacco colored leather solves the "too classy for me" issue, I think..... :)

Thanks for all those who lent advice as well.

Awesome!

Remember that the briefcases and bags can be heavy; less is more. When my bag is full of books, I can pretty much skip the gym for the day...

The thing gets kicked around like an extra in a b-grade Kung Fu flick, and just keeps looking better for it however. Tough, tough and more tough.

Man, I just went to the site again; each time there is more stuff to covet: Mac book air sleeves, new totes...

Anyone here ever try one of their belts?

Awesome and congrats, Matt. I have a briefcase, a wallet, an iPhone sleeve (as well as a second one I sent to Barry) and a sleeve for the Mac AirBook. Have to get off my butt and get both an iPad sleeve as well as a duffle bag.

They are outstanding products and the customer service is simply incredible.

Bought the wallet...more like a credit card holder plus a place in the center for cash. I'm still debating buying a second just incase they stop making them in 50 years

Nice, Matt.

So far, my wife has the medium satchel, the clutch purse, iPad case, and a wallet. I have the medium bifold wallet, and just snagged a back pack from Dave's Deals. We  Saddleback Leather.

Watch the videos and read the various FAQs. It's fantastic website content, appropriately, for a quality product.

I've been waiting for my cheapo department store wallet to fall apart for the last three years so that I can grab a saddleback wallet.

I've been meaning to post up something on my Saddleback Leather medium wallet that I've had for about 4 weeks now. The best goddam wallet I've ever owned. I cannot wait to see what this thing looks like in 10, 20, 30 years (provided I'm still around). I'll get something posted up on it soon (I know longer say "today" or "tomorrow" cuz we all know I take way longer than that to actually post shit).

Congratulations Matt. I hope to do a follow up post and show everybody how the medium case is wearing and what it can hold. It is not bad carrying around with my EDC items. I traveled on business a few weeks ago and loaded up the Dell laptop ( which I call the boat anchor to our IT group) and a ton of files and it was a beast to carry on my shoulder and a work out carrying t by the handle, though it was manageable Either way that was an exception and I have been thrilled with my purchase.

I big thank you to James for the small gadget sleeve. I plan on taking a pic and posting a proper thank you and show it off.

For anyone considering a purchase, keep an eye on Dave's deals for your item and color. If the flaw is something you can't live with they will take it back.

As Matt said the C/S is outstanding.
Regards
Barry

I was thinking of the Medium wallet for EDC and the Id wallet for a change up.

Get working on that Brad. I might order a medium bifold in black but want to see some real life pictures.

I've been buying from Dave since before I got into watches. I've had two medium briefcases. That part in the FAQ about ink spills? That was me. :) I have a wallet, an old ipod case promo, an ipad3 case, and the large dry bag. I've owned a messenger and a large bag. All were awesome. The guy is solid, the company is the real deal and I can't say enough nice stuff about all of it.

Congrats!

Mine is chestnut color. Let me snap a quick pic and I'll properly hijack Matt's thread.

Matt, that medium notebook holder is outstanding. I use mine every day. Also have the wallet and Macbook Air sleeve. Tobacco is the way to go. Can't go wrong with that stuff.

Looks heaps better without that brutal Papyrus logo they used earlier. That's one font I absolutely can't stand.
