Locast
Have you guys seen this app/site? We got rid of cable a year ago and went to sling. Never looked back. Just got an email from sling mentioning this Locast free service which gives you all locals free for select markets.
Downloaded it and sure as shit it works. Nice! On sling we get a few locals but this has them all for free
Cool beans.

Re: Locast
The range on the HD antenna doesn’t work where I am and yes, I bought and tested a half dozen of them. Too many trees, too many hills, too far away.hoppyjr wrote:Not in Seattle yet, but I have an HD antenna that brings all my locals and it works when internet is down.
I really wish it had worked though. HD antenna + Internet gets almost down to free.
Re: Locast
we use directvnow because of the streaming local channels. not free, but just using that and an internet connection cut my cost to less than half of what i was paying for a low-mid tier of channels + phone bundle. didn't need the phone any more, prefer not having 100+ channels of shopping and other crap i would never watch.
Re: Locast
we did same with Sling....Went from $200/month with cable to like $70/month for Sling, Hulu and Netflix.....Perfect. Sling gives some locals but not all, frankly dont really care i guess as i hardly watch them.gwells wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 7:15 amwe use directvnow because of the streaming local channels. not free, but just using that and an internet connection cut my cost to less than half of what i was paying for a low-mid tier of channels + phone bundle. didn't need the phone any more, prefer not having 100+ channels of shopping and other crap i would never watch.
Re: Locast
This is what we do and just have the basic package. Nice only paying $35 for TV and I find that it works well. We run it both on a built in Roku TV and I have an Apple TV box for the living room.gwells wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 7:15 amwe use directvnow because of the streaming local channels. not free, but just using that and an internet connection cut my cost to less than half of what i was paying for a low-mid tier of channels + phone bundle. didn't need the phone any more, prefer not having 100+ channels of shopping and other crap i would never watch.
Re: Locast
even nicer that HBO is only $5/mo on dtvnow. and you get hbogo. and that you can turn any feature on/off for the next month. so you can up your level for a few months for something specific if you want.
