Re: Nougat hitting my phone now!!
I've had it a while on a Nexus 5x and its pretty good, especially the improvements in power management. Being able to have two apps sharing the screen at once is helpful at times too.ericf4 wrote:Can't wait to see the new features.

Yeah, got Nougat on my 5X during the summer and I'm also enjoying the low cost of the Fi Network.bedlam wrote:I've had it a while on a Nexus 5x and its pretty good, especially the improvements in power management. I always love that response from Android fanboys. Always the same thing. lol. I use my phone for work and it's far from a kids toy, though I bet you can't wait for more multiple widgets and the new graphics for the video games you play on your phone.ericf4 wrote:iPhone no thx. Kids toy.

Also, nougat ? Can you eat the phone now? Do you have caramel also?

Same to be said for the apple sheep don...that said apple makes beautiful products, but beauty doesn't equate to best in class.tattoo chef wrote:I always love that response from Android fanboys. The thing that I notice that would be an issue for me comes up at the end of the day. Several times I've been at meetings after work and people with iphones are struggling with low battery charge by 6-7pm. That would be a pain in the ass.

My Pixel XL with Nougat will be here Friday. I got my wife a regular Pixel last week. Too good of a deal to pass up. She is struggling a little bit having come from an Iphone though. Battery power seems great on hers so far. The camera seems to be awesome as well.

Re: Nougat hitting my phone now!!
Got a free iphone 7 Plus 128GB to play with. Switching back and forth with my Note 5
I'm on cold meds so I'll just ramble
The camera is nice and pretty much as good as Note 5, although Note 5 has a voice activated shutter that's more convenient for self wrist shots so I can't seem to get a crystal clear sharp focus and take a shot with one hand. Yes I've tried 3-rd party apps with voice shutter - they work like crap.
Another thing and it's probably because i'm not used to it but I don't like the way Iphone stores/sorts/etc pictures, creating some dumb folders like Selfies, People, Places, Depth Effect, Bursts...but when you download a picture say from google or gmail it throws it in the Camera Roll, why? Should go to Dowload folder... Let me sort my own shit, lol
The screen is a lot less vibrant than Note 5, some say it's more natural so it's a preference thing. But it's fine if you haven't used Samsung Super Amoled screens
Notifications are half-baked in iphone, you can tell they took it from Android but they are a lot more intrusive especially arriving from something like email or Instagram. And they're not showing in the notification top bar where the clock after the banner rolls up so unless you swipe down you don't know what you have if you missed the banner. And that slide down banner is annoying since there's no physical back button in most apps the back button is at the top left corner and the banner covers them at the most inconvenient time. Just not as slick, so you have to swipe the notification banner to get to the back button
Lack of an LED to show missed events while you were away from the phone is really missed on iphone. Simple but a useful feature in Androids.
Lack of 3.5mm jack. I get it it's progress and looks cleaner but I like to listen to music with headphones and charge the phone at the same time. Can't do that with Iphone unless I don't know of some splitter accessory that you have to buy.
Copy/Paste from Gmail to something else is spotty. Says tap the word twice and it will highlight, not every time - a little annoying
Fingerprint sensor is a LOT better on Iphone, I can actually use it now as a method to lock my phone, on note 5 it only works half the time and is irritating so you have to go to a number pad to unlock the phone.
Iphone is just as fast as note5, they finally fixed caching web pages issues and multitasking.
Google apps work very well if not slicker in Iphone than in Google Android itself, odd but understandable they want to show off to apple crowd
Overall I could be happy with either phone and don't see any need to switch platforms if you're hooked on one or the other.
One other thing, we use Good Work for email at my company and it works much better on Iphone than Android, so there's that
TL;DR - Iphone 7Plus and Samsung Galaxy flagship phones are equally great with pluses and minuses to them

Art, any photo you take will go right into camera roll but will also put it in the other folders as well depending on what it is. I don't really categorize my stuff into albums as anything that I want categorized goes into Dropbox.

You can change the notifications from banners (which come up and then disappear) to alerts which stay on the screen until you do something with them.Panerai7 wrote:

Re: Nougat hitting my phone now!!
I've had an iphone for many years, tried to switch to a Samsung a few years ago and just couldn't be bothered trying to learn a new system and ended up switching back.
Then again I use it to send SMS and mms messages, check social media and surf the net. I don't use it for work, for that I have Blackberry. I do like the almost unlimited number of apps available from the itunes store. The samsung had nowhere near the number. I have a Mophie juice case for my phone so battery life is no problem.

I have every banner and notification I can think of turned off. All I have is audible sound for texts and phone calls.I don't like being bugged.james80 wrote:You can change the notifications from banners (which come up and then disappear) to alerts which stay on the screen until you do something with them.Panerai7 wrote:

Re: Nougat hitting my phone now!!
Nougat only just released here in the UK and some of our networks still haven't released it yet.
It's been on my Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge for three days now and so far I wish I hadn't downloaded it.
I much preferred Marshmallow but I'll have to live with it. Some changes have improved things, battery life mainly but some changes I'm finding infuriating. Now if I want to delete one callers many calls from the call log it has to be done one at a time where before you could delete all of one callers log at once.
