Samsung S7 Edge opinions?

Post by Henryj » Mon Sep 19, 2016 6:26 pm

My wife is thinking about going from her Apple iPhone 6+ to an S7 Edge. Anyone got reviews, opinions, thoughts?

Thanks.
Henry

Isn't there a bunch of issues with exploding batteries?

The reviews I saw said iPhone 7 > S7. Also, Mike pointed out the small problem with the exploding batteries.
Henry, the real question is how much do you love your wife and how much insurance does she have? :stir:

The battery issue is with the Note, not the Edge. For your other question, quite a bit and not enough.

Waiting for Verizon to have new note 7 in stock with new batteries.
That's a nice upgrade to my note 5

My HTC is a piece. Need to replace it. For now I'm using my iPhone 5 from work.

Been done with Apple's walled garden for a long time now. Currently on an S6.
I would buy a straight Galaxy S7. But not the S7 Edge (gimmicky), or S7 Note (battery issue).

I vote for the exploding phone. #1 phone in the Middle East. And trust me, they know their explosive devices.

Note 7 batteries issues have already been resolved. Just wait for stocks to build up.
Best screen on a smartphone period
Iris Scanner
Micro SD card expansion
Bigger screen than iphone 7+ but smaller form factor
Android customization
Fast Charge and wireless charging, fast Charge is just amazing 30min on a charger 50% battery full.
Love that it connects with all of my Samsung TVs, wireless screen mirroring is amazing

And the MOFO back button lol

I also like the S7 better than the S7E or N7.
the s7 will be more than enough for a normal user. It's still one of the best phones out there atm

It's a button to help Android users compensate for iPhone envy.

It's a button next to the center button that lets you go back one step. Instead of looking where iOS out it in different place in every damn screen and app it's always there . Makes a one handed web browsing and everything else so much easier.
And there's really no envy lol. Iphone is cheaper and less capable device that got so desperate that they give 650$ trade in towards a new one just so they can hang with Samsung sales
I took advantage of that deal for my elder mother because the less features the better for her

By the way Samsung makes inferior IPS panels for iPhone and iPad and uses their Super AMOLED and OLED panels for their own phones

S7 is a nice phone, easier to break the glass though. CNET review:

Back button lol.
You just swipe with an iPhone, no need for a back button. Swipe right to go back on any screen or left to advance like when in a browser etc.

I do want to do a test out of curiosity today though with charging. I have an iPhone 6s and though it is not as big or powerful as a note 5, I am pretty sure I can charge 50% in 30 min... but I will test it out today. I also have a I7 coming in a week or two, so will test with that as well.

I will say wireless charging, to me, is the one big downfall of the iPhone. Really hoped the iPhone 7 would have it, but it doesn't. Would have solved the whole charging while having lighting headphones plugged in as well.

I love iPhone and iOS but I'm the first to admit they lag in adding useful features that other phones have had for quite awhile.

Both my wife and I have the M7 Model 6500LVW for almost 3 years. I also try and keep them bloat the free. I'm definitely an Android fan.

Why does everything seem to think wireless charging is such a big deal? Is it really that damn hard to plug in your phone?
