iPhone 7 rocks!

Post by hoppyjr » Fri Sep 16, 2016 4:26 pm

Yes, it's fantastic.

Better screen, better Siri, much better sound (amplified and two speakers), more responsive, lots of new OS10 features, and typical excellent build quality.

I'm using the Apple Battery Case on mine. The iPhone 7 is reported to get 2 hours longer battery life over the 6. The battery case almost doubles the phone time too. It's a perfect fit and feels great (Apple!), charges with Lightning connector (unlike most which are micro USB), no separate power switch to mess with (fully automatic), and the both the case battery percentage and phone battery percentage show in the notification screen.

I'm happy.

+1 for love of the Apple battery case.

Third party cases are a pain in the ass. Having plug-and-play ease/integration and a lightning connector are key.

I ordered the plus, won't be be here for a few weeks.
I'm honestly not excited...
Only reason I got it is I hesitated on getting the plus last year and didn't, and regretted it. So I wanted to get the bigger one this year. I stayed with sprint as I get a killer deal for unlimited and I have Amazon prime through it and in the iPhone Forever plan. Only thing I'm really interested in is the camera. Otherwise I'm running iOS 10 already. I imagine though if you were going from a 5 or something it would be a huge upgrade.

Waited in line to find out no 7+ at the store. Ordered so it should be here in a few weeks. I'm looking forward to a small speed bump coming from the 6+ and ios 10 looks to be a pretty significant update.

I'm still running on a regular 6 and don't have any plans to upgrade. As far as I can tell, there's no killer upgrade that I need.

No 7+ anywhere in the Seattle region either. I went with the regular 7 on pre-order, but I'll likely add a 7+ too.

Well, of you're on Verizon you can trade-in the 6 and get the 7 for a net of $4 per month. See my other thread. I imagine other carriers would do a similar deal.

What battery case did you get? I've been using mophie for years. Surprised apple had one with the release of the 7.

Interesting. I am on VZW. Only an extra $4/mo is a great deal.

But I'm going to wait until my wife breaks/loses her 5s (only a matter of time) and I'll give her my 6 and upgrade myself to a 7.

Sounds like Ed has the Apple battery case. It's nice because it has a lightning connector and seamlessly integrates with the iPhone.

keep telling yourself that.... but I'm getting sick of my 5s dropping battery power twice as fast as it should.

i don't know what kind of contract you are in if any, but i was not in a contract- and verizon gave me $400 for my 5s and my wifes 5 thanks to Hoppys deal he posted. I suggest looking into it, as the normal trade value is $50 for a 5 and $90 for a 5s.

Apple makes a battery case for the 6, 6s, and 7. They do not have one for the "+" models.

It's much better than aftermarket cases in many ways;

- one piece design, easy on/off with no parts to loosen or crack
- soft touch material is non-slip and looks fantastic, as it should being an Apple product
- no switch to worry about, the case is used first and charged last (as it should be) and it does this automatically
- no mystery on battery (case) charge level; the iphone displays the charge level of both case and phone separately
- no need for separate chargers, the Apple Battery Case charges with Lightning

FWIW; upgrading to the 128gb iPhone 7 would only cost $15/mo for the wife (trading in the 5s) and only $4/mo for you (iPhone 6). It's a special limited time promotion to get folks into the iPhone 7. Basically it would work out to $456 over the two-year period to get both of you into new phones now - and there is NO interest paid. Frankly it would be silly not to do this, as it's giving you a total of $1050 for your two old phones, which you'll never see other than in this promotion. I upgraded five lines.

Agreed. If you're running a 5s you will see $16/mo credit for trading it in. The 128gb iPhone 7 is $31/mo (no interest) for 24 months on your bill. The net is $15/mo ($360 total) out of pocket, which is less than the old way of buying a phone. Unless $15 breaks the bank, it's an absolute steal to take advantage of the special trade promotion.

The only thing I dislike about my 6s (I think it is) is the storage capacity. I'm always having to back up and clean out old pictures. Next time I'm getting the largest capacity version.

Agreed. $5/mo more and I got the 256gb.

My 5s is 32gb.... I have tons of pics and Tapatalk... That's about all I can fit on my phone. The 7 I picked up is 128gb. Can't wait to be able to put angry birds back on my phone :)

If you delete those Carlos Danger photos you'll free up some space. Just saying.
