iPhone 7 deal - Verizon
iPhone 7 deal - Verizon
Just some information for those of you who would like to upgrade to the new iPhone 7, but don't want to shell out $600-800 for the device;
Right now, you can purchase the new iPhone on the no-interest Verizon "device payment plan" - basically 24 monthly payments. On the iPhone 7 128gb version this amounts to $31.04 per month.
Now the good part: of you trade in your iPhone 6 or 6s, you'll receive a $650 CREDIT, also disbursed in 24 equal monthly payments of $27 per month. This credit helps offset the new device payment, leaving you about $4 per month out of pocket (about $100 over two years). You can't beat that deal.
If you have an older iPhone 5, 5s, or the iPhone SE you'll get $400, also over 24 months (about $16 per month).
Being the geek I am, I upgraded several lines tonight.
I hope this helps some of you do the same.

Re: iPhone 7 deal - Verizon
Hmmm, what if I am still making payments on a 6s? I am assuming the phone has to be paid off.
Re: iPhone 7 deal - Verizon
Interesting. I didn't realize the older phone would give $650 credit. Last I checked, it was $300...
Re: iPhone 7 deal - Verizon
I don't understand all the payment plan thing. I mean- do you pay more for it in the long run ?
I currently have ATT and no device plan, so I would have to pay regular price for one

Many of the "payment plans" now are 0 finance charge. They just want you to buy more devices (if it's Apple selling) or buy service with them (if carrier selling).
Re: iPhone 7 deal - Verizon
Yes what Wu said. Last year when I bought my 6s on payments I just divided the full price by 24 months and it was the exact price Verizon is charging me per month.

Oh gotcha
Honestly, I'm not a huge tech fan. We both have 5S, I do want the 6S.

Go into "my account" online, select the line to upgrade, then choose the version of the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus you want. Add to cart. In the cart, look at the lower right of screen and go to "trade in device". Follow the prompts and you'll see it computes a $650 credit (again, over 24 months).matt.wu wrote:Interesting. In Washington State I only paid a $20 upgrade fee today. In California you'll also pay sales tax of about $60, depending on model.
Re: iPhone 7 deal - Verizon
I believe AT&T is running a similar promotion, but it's on the iPhone 7 only. For those on Verizon it's a no-brainier to go for the 7.BBK357 wrote:Oh gotcha

$400 seems like a lot of credit for a 5. I may look into this.

It is. If you switch to Verizon there is no activation fee (right now) when starting new lines of service.BBK357 wrote:$400 seems like a lot of credit for a 5. I may look into this.

But of course they took away the headphone jack.
Just like a few years ago I bought an iMac. Never owned an apple computer... They said "this new version doesn't have a CD drive, you don't need it anyway."
So 2 weeks later I spent $70 on an external CD drive for my text books.

Better option. I was wondering if they could use that port for headphones

As much as I dislike earbud wires the new wireless ones will be very easy to misplace.
only accurate watches are interesting

That's news to me --saw I could trade my 5S in for a $125 credit or a 6S for $250..
Still going to get a 7 over the next month or so.. I'm AT&T..

So do I. Finding a high quality aftermarket pair is going to be pricey. I've read of $300-$400 ones coming.

Will upgrade once the lightning-aux jack cables come out. Need to be able to stream podcasts and Spotify through my old car stereo.

Re: iPhone 7 deal - Verizon
Really stupid to drop the jack. Why would I want headphones that don't plug into the entertainment center of an airplane?
Re: iPhone 7 deal - Verizon
The future dude. My moto Z was the first to drop the 3.5mm. It allows for thinner devices and usbc ports allow for greater expandability, speeds, charge rates etc as I understand. I know apple uses their weird lightning port instead of USB c so not sure there . I've not missed the jack a single bit. I keep the adapter plugged into my Shure in ears all the time so it's no different than before really.JP Chestnut wrote:Really stupid to drop the jack.
