I'm using PowerBeats 2 Wireless earphones and they are perfect. Excellent sound, great call audio (people can't tell I'm on a headset), about 6 hours use on a charge, sweat & water resistant, and currently $150 at Verizon. If you buy with any apple device they will drop them another $50 to $99 right now.
Rahul; if you're with Verizon you might want to jump while the $650 credit is happening. The adapters will be days away.

The future dude. My moto Z was the first to drop the 3.5mm. It allows for thinner devices and usbc ports allow for greater expandability, speeds, charge rates etc as I understand. I know apple uses their weird lightning port instead of USB c so not sure there . I've not missed the jack a single bit. I keep the adapter plugged into my Shure in ears all the time so it's no different than before really.

That's actually a good point about keeping the adaptor on your phones permanently. Maybe not as terrible as I first thought.

Nah man it's all good. People bitched about it on moto Z until they realized they truly bitched about nothing. Moto includes the adapter with the phone so no extra buy there.

The iPhone 7 ships with both Lightning-compatible earbuds and a Lightning-to-mini jack (headphone jack) adapter in the box. Additional genuine Apple adapters are only $9 each.
Frankly, I'm not going to miss the headphone jack. I'll install the adapter on my Bose earphones and toss those in my briefcase as travel spares. A second adapter will go on my Bose QuietComfort headphones for travel, along with the Belkin adapter which allows simultaneous charging and headphone use. For daily use, the Powerbeats are amazing. I was on a 2-hour call with someone last night who had no idea I was using headphones, let alone Bluetooth headphones and much of the call my phone was in the next room. No static, no reduced quality.
I've also pre-ordered the Kanoa wireless earbuds and look forward to trying them.
The future isn't as bad as some may think. It's also nice to have a water resistant iPhone.

You do, compared to what a contract price used to be. You used to pay say $2-300 and a 2 year contract. After the 2 year contract the phone was yours to keep or sell.
Now, you pay around $400 or more during the lease, and have to return it or they give you an option to buy it off at another $2-300...so if you want to keep it you are paying full price for the phone.
The Verizon deal sounds good, but I'm sure they are getting the money for it somewhere in your deal.

I just buy all my phone's outright full price. I'm never on a contract and can do whatever I want. I find it easier.

Used to be you'd get a couple hundred dollar "subsidy" to remain with the carrier for two years. Now the "device payment" plans allow you to leave anytime, but you need to pay off the phone (you can sell it to pay off) but you're not locked into a contract with early termination fees. It's the same as Eric paying full price for the device and not being locked into a contract, except you get 24 monthly installments and no interest.
The current promotion allows a $650 credit for iPhone 6 or 6s trade ins. It's credited as $27.04 per month over a 24 month period. A new iPhone 7 with 128gb size is $31 per month for 24 months, so you're out of pocket about $100 over two years, with no interest. It's a screaming deal. No catch. I've ordered five for family members, with three more likely.

If I get that much credit for our 5s, we may jump to Verizon. Can't beat that.
And yeah I just buy them like Eric- I tend to get used phones and I have a cheap month to month contract.

5s is $400 credit, $16 per month for 24 mos. The iPhone 7 would cost you $27-35 per month, depending on size (128gb is $31, so $15 per month net cost. They also have some nice new plans with Rollover data. Plus company discounts.

hoppyjr wrote:Just some information for those of you who would like to upgrade to the new iPhone 7, but don't want to shell out $600-800 for the device;
Right now, you can purchase the new iPhone on the no-interest Verizon "device payment plan" - basically 24 monthly payments. On the iPhone 7 128gb version this amounts to $31.04 per month.
Now the good part: of you trade in your iPhone 6 or 6s, you'll receive a $650 CREDIT, also disbursed in 24 equal monthly payments of $27 per month. This credit helps offset the new device payment, leaving you about $4 per month out of pocket (about $100 over two years). You can't beat that deal.
If you have an older iPhone 5, 5s, or the iPhone SE you'll get $400, also over 24 months (about $16 per month).
Being the geek I am, I upgraded several lines tonight.
I hope this helps some of you do the same.
Don't they make you sign up for one of the new plans? If so, my payment would go up about $20 a month.

Yes and no. (Yes the Verizon deal does sound great)
But you can't leave early really. You can but you still have to pay off the remainder of the lease payments regardless and then if you wanted the phone, you have to pay off whatever amount is left that was not in the lease. And the credits are only good as long as you do the whole 24 months. If you leave early you will owe the full lease amount. And you can't sell the phone until you disconnect it as its ESN number would not work.
What I'm saying is either way you are paying money to get out of the deal if you choose to do so.
I am going to look into the Verizon deal though.

Don't do the normal trade in. Do it online, do the upgrade on "device payment", then go all the way to the cart. Look at the lower right of card (under where the price "due today" is) and click on "trade my device". Follow the prompts; it will give you $650.

I don't have that option show up in my cart. They'll give me $220 for my iphone 6, which frankly isn't that great of a deal.

Hoppy, you must have some sort of special trade in deal. i don't think anyone is getting nearly that much for a trade in. Bummed, especially after spending the last 30 minutes navigating the crappy verizon site.

Do you have a 6 or a 6s?
If you have a 6s and do the trade in option during checkout, a special promotion is added and they give you $650.
I got it to offer me that for my 6s.
I didn't go through with it though, as I still owe 272 on my phone through sprint and I have unlimited data so in the end I still have a better deal.

OK, on a whim, I tried the trade-in appraisal again, and it's giving me $650 now! And for some reason, my monthly bill is $100 less as well, which makes no sense at all, but of course I placed the order.

Don't pay much mind to the $100 lower bill; that is only computing the line you upgraded. It won't be that way in real life.
Glad it worked out.

I believe I did. Put the 7 into the cart, clicked trade in (which estimated at $90 for 5S), went through those steps and it came out to $90.
