Will be picking this up today. Assuming the local stores have any left.

Looks like it's going to be tough to get early on. After some car stuff and a new camera, I'm out for now.

How build your own version for around $30. I am going to do this with my daughter. It also upscale's to 4k.

I'll be honest. All of that is way more than I'm capable of, and most of that is just over my head. Plus, it just looks like a fire hazard waiting to happen.

There is no soldering or major programming involved

I have a chromebox with Kodi installed on it. I tired to put retro arch on it but it wasn't as nice as retropie.

I'm seriously considering doing this but I want to see how it fares when doing ps1/n64/dreamcast games.

I had a bunch of MAME ROMs from years ago, and built up a RetroPie system with a Pi3. Works really well, and I mated it to a PS3 controller. There are a few steps that take some research, but not bad overall.

Another alternative especially if you already have the Nintendo Wii, is WiiBrew

http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Main_Page

It is a easy process to set up to run homebrew games and emulators on the Wii.

I picked up a couple of controllers that plug into the Wii remote that work pretty good too.

The Retro Receiver is already available for classic gaming consoles like the original NES, the Super Nintendo, and even the Apple II computer. But the latest version of the adapter is designed to plug into the ports on the front of Nintendo’s new NES Classic Edition, letting you play with a wide variety of Bluetooth-friendly wireless controllers, instead of the included wired option.

Well that didn't take long.

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/01/h ... usb-cable/
If you managed to get your hands on an NES Classic Edition this holiday season, you may already be tired of the 30 classic games pre-installed on the system by now. Nintendo has made clear that the tiny replica NES will not officially receive new games, especially with no WiFi protocol to download them. But that hasn't stopped budding hackers from scoffing at Nintendo's claims and adding games their own way.

This week saw separate hackers in Japan and Russia figure out soft-mod solutions to adding new games to the NES Classic. This means you don't need to grab a screwdriver or a soldering iron to mod yours.

Walmart.com has it for $219.69

All other department stores/electronic stores, and Amazon sold out.

Maybe the manufacturers will modify the newer ones where hacks cannot be performed. Still looking for the early release, but not paying $219.69.

Best thing I found and did was get an old xbox and mod it. Now I have pretty much all the old consoles for $50.

I got one for christmas. It's a lot of fund. I get to play with my 7 year old and he absolutely loves it too. He is a huge Kirby fan now.
