Re: New android tapatalk update
I've only spent a few minutes with the new version but it seems like a big improvement. Colors and fonts make reading the topic view much easier and some of the other usability issues appear to be fixed, including the navigation of sub-forums. Nice work Ken!

I have Tapatalk installed but I honestly don't see the advantage over using the full version in Safari. If anything it limits my view.

Just updated and it is a lot better. We need a good watch photo for the top though :-?

I stuck with plain white for now.Graeme wrote:Just updated and it is a lot better. We need a good watch photo for the top though :-?
Re: New android tapatalk update
The key changes in the android update, too lazy to re write it:
The true compact mode for topic cards and such is still to come so things will only get better on the customization front. Currently though, you can go into options and toggle off the action bar to free up some vertical space.

I'm doing ok with iOS now. I do with for two things;
The buttons for unread/subscribed/participated etc are too easy to accidentally hit while updating (maybe it's me)
I could use an even larger font (I'm getting fucking old, don't laugh cause that shits coming to you someday)
Thanks Ken

Re: New android tapatalk update
This is true. I've accidentally subscribed to several threads and gotten notifications when a new post was made. Annoying.hoppyjr wrote:

Re: New android tapatalk update
You can increase the font size in the app's settings. Go to the main Profile page (the one that displays your list of forums) and tap the gear icon in the top right corner. Tap the 'Font size' option and select the font size you want.hoppyjr wrote:I'm doing ok with iOS now. I do with for two things;

Re: New android tapatalk update
Thanks, but I'm already at the largest setting. An "XL" would be nice, or tie it to the dynamic font sizing that exists in iOS. ?logan2z wrote:You can increase the font size in the app's settings. There's a 'Very Large' option on Android that produces a pretty big font. Maybe the options are different on iOS.hoppyjr wrote:Thanks, but I'm already at the largest setting. iOS now has dynamic font sizing, but apps need to be compatible to take advantage of it. As you increase the device font then some apps automatically increase too.
Re: New android tapatalk update
Dynamic font sizes is something we're looking into.
As for the action bar icons being easy to hit on accident, that's gonna be tweaked as well, especially in the upcoming "compact mode"

Also in the mean time, you can just hide the whole action bar from settings (if you don't really even use the functions)
This gives the added benefit if making the topic cards take up less vertical space.

How is that done? I don't see the setting.Knome wrote:Also in the mean time, you can just hide the whole action bar from settings (if you don't really even use the functions)

Re: New android tapatalk update
Speaking of the action bar, I'm a little confused about the thumbs-up icon, which I assume is the 'like' button. Two things:
1) It shows up at the topic list level rather than at the post level. Not sure what it means for a topic.
2) It seems to show up even if the forum doesn't support 'like', eg. DWC.
Am I misunderstanding the purpose of this icon?

Re: New android tapatalk update
The "like" action is purely there to influence your tapatalk level experience in the forum home page level. It is separate from the forum system (dwc proper).
Liking stuff will allow the feed to show similar stories higher and more often.
However imo this algorithm has along way to go, so its effect on things right now is minimal at best. Personally I just remove the action bar and just subscribe to sub forums and topics to influence my feed content.

I like the action bar purely for the quick "mark as read".

I think that was available via long-press in the previous version, but it's more easily discoverable now.matt.wu wrote:I like the action bar purely for the quick "mark as read".
