On my TV. I've just got a cheap vizio smart tv.
I also have a "cheater box" thing called Media Cube that hooks to the tv like Roku. One of my buddies had something to do with the company and I bought it. It gets links off the web...some work, some don't. Live sports and PPV feeds typically suck because they are so pixelated, but sometimes you can get a good stream and watch a ton of new movies and tv series. They have a new version that may be easier to navigate and get better reception, but I'm not sure....

Is there any way to watch SKY Sports on the Internet in the states? Other than finding someone streaming a specific game, I haven't found a way.

Well, if you're ever watching CNN and they start rolling this
footage, don't worry about your friggin cable bill. Just get yourself a proper drink, a proper cigar, and a proper woman…and enjoy what time you have.

Ok I thought I would update this thread:
I called last week with all intentions to drastically reduce the bill decreasing service of canceling. Well....
The 50min phone call (the first 10min was with someone else who could not pull up my account and ultimately hung up on me after 15min) ended with me keeping the same service but instead of them jacking it up to $135 per month I got it for $110.
I tried making it work by just doing internet and basic cable. It would have been $85. But all the kids shows are gone except for nickelodeon, which isn't what it was when I was a kid. It's full of teeny-bopper shows starring future whores that leak nudes when they turn 19. Not that I have a problem with that. So then I priced Hulu plus. So with Hulu plus and basic/internet it would only have been slightly cheaper. I said, why pay just a little less per month to have a lot less? So we kept it and they lowered the price.... For a year. I guess ill do this again next year.

^^ awesome!
You keep getting the same reduction until it becomes free.
If my math is correct, I would be surprised.

If only I could get adult on demand for free...
Really it blows my mind how much they charge for a porn movie. For a newer HD it's like $15!! Just go to xhamster.com people! Or Adam and Eve... They have deals sometimes like 9 DVDs for the price of 2.

Great thread. Thought about cutting our cable too since we rarely use it.
It's a beautiful world! Gerald.

^ THIS. Exactly. All of it.
With all the users we have today I would have thought cable, Internet, and cellular prices would have dropped by now.
Well, leaving the Obamacare stuff aside, the cable companies do have what amount to mini-monopolies in most geographic areas. I think in my area I can choose either Comcast or AT&T (which gives me a little leverage, but only a little). I heard a piece on NPR which contrasted this with England, where consumers can choose from multiple carriers in any given area.
I think the issue with going all internet is that too many folks (myself included) still don't see that as being the same as owning a television. I honestly think the next frontier is having a television that hooks directly into the internet for everything. We're not there yet, but we're headed that way - look at how many new tv shows are being put out by internet companies (Amazon, Netflix, etc.) instead of traditional networks. However, you can bet that Comcast, et al. will find a way to monetize that, too. They're already attempting to get regulations in place that will allow them to charge internet providers for faster transmission (the whole net neutrality issue).
In the UK, people may have more choices, but they tend to pay more for less.
A few years back, Apple wanted to be able to provide content via the Apple TV on an a la carte basis. The big TV companies blocked it. However, I think thats the way things are going to go.
You will end up paying more on a per channel basis, but get exactly what you want.
I agree. The current cable pricing model is dead, they just haven't realized it yet. When a viable alternative shows up, and it's going to be soon, things are going to change. Espn and HBO are both doing a stand alone subscription.

Speaking of shitty pricing models and monopolies...I'm thinking about cutting my water service. I'm thinking I can shower at work or the gym and buy bulk water at the water store for drinking and cooking I can save about $75 a month.
I haven't figured out how I will flush the toilets though

Just stop paying your bill. Free water is a human right, I learned that in Detroit.

As much as I despise Comcast/Xfinity, I have a total package around $175. It includes DVR, two other room HD boxes, high speed internet, and telephone service. It also allows my son to watch several channels on his Apple TV, Fire TV, and XBoxOne while off at college. He can also log into the website and watch any channels we have at home and he even has a laptop set up with HDMI to his TV, so he can see it all there too. This reduces the expense at his place to $30/month for internet only. Because of this I'm keeping Comcast another year, then will shop elsewhere.

I ended up canceling my tv service and landline a few months back. I picked up a digital antenna, a networked DVR and a VOIP phone.
Ended up saving over $250.
While we will eventually go back, I wanted to give it a go. The only thing that was holding me back was in-market sports. Once I figured that out, I was good to go.
