Re: New tapatalk android release
Seriously, what options are there? Someone needs to develop a viable alternative to Tapatalk for forum browsing. I think changes would be more coordinated / improved.
Nothing like a bit of competition to make folks sink or swim. I'm still pissed that I payed for "pro" a while back and then they changed the model.

I've never seen an app fail so epically at such a simple task. This is supposed to make it easier to read a forum, not more difficult. Awful.

And the previous iOS version was excellent, we need a rollback to the previous version asap.
I'll download the app to my android tablet to see how they compare.

The new iOS update made the app very user unfriendly.

Every time I just about get used to it, they change it.
Have to say I'm not mad about the banners. Step back six or seven months ago and then leave it alone.

Re: New tapatalk android release
yeah it's tough right now, the new product director came in a lot of ideas that aren't working out in terms of design. I represent the "hardcore forum audience" of tapatalk here in the office and the monthly active usership, while high, was not following the trajectory of what a startup company needs to get to the next level (for a long time now). The "keep things the same way people like it" the past 3 years was not working from a business perspective anymore, hence the radical ideas being given a chance. The goal was to lay the groundwork to attract a more mainstream audience.
My biggest responsibility going forward now is to make sure while all that is happening we don't leave adept forum users out in the cold.
I've been given charge of what the new forum homepages, subforums, topics, etc will look like, possibly even browse navigation, so I hope to get things back on track in 2015. Just wish I didn't have to start this project rollerskating up hill.
There is still a revision or two in terms of design that are in the pipeline that aren't my vision, but at least they aren't any worse than the recent release. After that, I'll be trying to integrate pretty much every rational/intelligent suggestion I get from users (within reason from a design perspective)

I don't like it as much as before but that said, it's free and it's usable for me. I get around with it ok enough for my use.

I thought Tapatalks sole existence was for the "hardcore forum audience" ?

I didn't even realize I had "updated." But the upside is that I spend much less time surfing DWC at work!

I really, really, REALLY dislike this newest iOS version. I also found myself checking forums about 5% of my usual daily time. It just plain sucks.

I used to use forumrunner. Then went pro on tapatalk, then they went VIP, now we're free version with VIP something extra?
I'm trying forumrunner again.

VIP is what they did for those of us who were paid users before they combined free with paid.ericf4 wrote:What is vip?

Re: New tapatalk android release
Is there anyway to get rid of this update? Can I delete the app and use a backup from my computer or something?
I seriously think this version was not used before it was put out. Sad.

I had to hunt to find it now, but if you edit your profile you can see it if you're set to it.
Re: New tapatalk android release
Another issue that is annoying; I don't use the "feed" so I turn it off for each forum. Periodically it automatically activates itself and I'm seeing feed stuff, so I turn it off again, then it auto populates again and again. Sucks!

Hi Knome
Another thing I have noticed on Android v IOS,
On IOS if a thread has a lot of photos posted by different people, you can click on one and scroll through all the photos on the thread, on Android when you click on a photo you can only scroll through that post and then have to go back to the thread to see the next persons photos. Can you make Android the same as IOS?

Re: New tapatalk android release
i just disabled all my forums from the feed to see if I can re-create the issue.
If this is a bug it will get fixed soon. Basically disabling the feed for all your forums turns the feed mostly back into an "inbox" for all your forums, but I think it can do with more polish.

I keep forgetting how bad the new interface really is.
