Know this is a old thread has any one tried Hulu for local stations ? The price went up a little they do let you try it for free for a month mite try it and if it works OK cut the cord and save fifty bucks a month. Would like to know if Hulu local station work ok if any one here is using it and looks like all the other stuff I get with the dish for half the price.
I have local stations with Hulu, no issues.

What about using an antenna to pick up the local stations?

We tried the Hulu/Roku route. Didn’t last because Dodger games were needed, and Spectrum cable box is the only way to watch the Dodgers in the LA area. Well, I guess a Dodger internet subscription and Chromecast might have worked, but the troops were in too much uproar over me turning the TV services upside-down. It’s still cheaper than those crooks at Verizon.

I tried Hulu with Live TV in fall of 2017 and it didn’t work out for me because it buffered too much and often froze up.

I’ve been using YouTube TV since then and it’s fantastic. While I’m not a google fan, this service is stable and has the options and intuitive functionality that I enjoy. I also added Starz & Showtime to my subscription. Even when I factor in the $50 I pay for the high end Xfinity Internet, my total outlay is still about 65% of what the equivalent Xfinity tv package would have cost. Since I hate Xfinity/Comcast and only dislike Google, this was an easy choice.

Just did You Tube TV myself. I'm saving about $100 a month over DirecTV. I see no difference in picture quality. Love the unlimited cloud DVR. Only thing is I no longer get the MASN Nationals broadcasts, but I can live with that.

Oh yeah, and being able to customize your channel guide is awesome.

One thing I don't like is that when I'm trying to record a show that doesn't have episodes airing soon, that show won't show up in a search (Better Call Saul, for instance). And I wish there was a way to only record new episodes of a show, instead of all episodes, as I could do with DirecTV.

Well a while back I shit caned DIREC TV went HULU live. All local TV come in great except for CBS it buffers every so often. Think it's a local problem at how they send the signal to HULU small time TV stations I notice screw up a lot compared to bigger cities in other states. What made me do it AT&E got greedy jacked the bill up a few bucks so tested HULU for free and stayed with HULU live. The funny thing AT&T did not want there equipment back the stuff they make you pay extra for the stuff they charge half your bill for then the signal. There better off cutting your bill in half so it's the same as the streaming services instead of charging you double for equipment they don't want back and they keep you as a customer.

We made the move over the last month. YouTube TV for local channels, Prime, and Netflix. Disney+ for free for 12 mo thru Verizon. Added a Showtime subscription (free for 30 days) to binge Billions. All I need. Saving about $100./mo.

Running through AppleTV 4k on our main TV, native apps on our 2nd TV and a FireStick on our bedroom TV.

Works great ... a bit different than the old remote, box, etc that we had but we're getting used to it.

I am sure most of you know about this site, but haven't seen it referenced yet. It provides decent updates on new streaming services and old ones, plus where to stream some current shows.

YouTube TV is awesome. I would never go back to DirectTV, and I'm saving over $100 a month with it.

Haven't had cable for about 4 years now. I partially pay (because I share with close family): Netflix, Disney+, Hulu. Also subscribed to Amazon Prime.

I've been thinking about getting a Direct TV or Hulu TV for local station, but I think I would use it about four or five times a year. My latest TV doesnt even have a TV Tuner!

We still have Hulu,. Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. To be honest I watch YouTube videos 95% of the time and could probably eliminate one or more of the services we currently have. Still less than we were paying for DirecTV, though.

I haven't subscribed to cable since 2005 and in the last 15 years with things like streaming services, smart TVs, Youtube content getting better and more diverse, and piracy, I havent missed broadcast TV at all.
