I go to "sports", "calendar" and choose the sport and game that I want to watch...

My phone service is via cable, too - any options for that?
Landline?
You can get voip phone calls for close to nothing today.
Yes, landline.

No idea what voip is, but will look into it.

Which option offers this?

I've been using Ooma for 3 years. It's excellent and runs about $4.50 per month, which is just the local taxes. Once you buy the unit there is no monthly cost above taxes.

Thanks, Ed.

Lots of reviews to look through on Amazon.

(not that I don't value your opinion)

VoIP means "voice over IP"
Basically your calls travel on the internet instead of the typical phone lines.
If you have a stable connection the service is indistinguishable from the regular phone, only it costs zero or close to zero.
I think there is even something like a skype phone.

For HBO, you can buy the streaming option HBO Now.
It costs $15 per month, and if you have a smart TV or a fire stick / Cheomecast / equivalent it's even better than normal TV (you also can access very easily all the HBO catalogue on demand, I rewatched The Wire this way).
