Do you like negative display?

Post by kempoman » Thu Oct 31, 2013 6:28 pm

I am deciding a normal display vs negative display. I am thinking i might need to tune in to look at the negative display. What do you think?

I like their appearance, but they are definitely difficult to read. If legibility at a glance is a priority then go with the standard display.

Got rid of my Gshock rescue because I could never read it.

I like them. Just hit the backlight if the legibility is poor.

Negative display sucks if you only want to see the time without using your other hand...lol

I just received a Suunto Core Alu deep black. The watch is awesome, except I don't know what it reads at any given time.

Love the negative displays, but I agree that they are not as easy to read (I'm a style whore so fuck it... Negative display for me lol).

A couple of mine have the a feature where you can have the back-light come on by rolling your wrist. A neat idea but I guess if you are skulking around playing ninja you might not want a watch that lights up every time you move your arm.
cheers,

I prefer the negative. Never a problem reading it.

I've got the Casio GX-56 (orange case, negative display). Great looking watch; but the negative display is difficult to see unless I'm essentially face on to it...and in good lighting. Michael

They actually read much better in daylight than indoors. And the Auto Backlight feature is a major battery drain.

It's fun to have one, but if I only had one gshock it would be the regular display.

Negative display sucks to try and read if you are in the sun at all. So they are a no go for me.

I like them in pictures, but in person I always end up selling them.

Look cool but totally impractical for me. I have sold all of mine quickly.

I personally like the negative display over positive. However, they're not practical for telling time. I scored this negative display Timex at Target for $5 so I'm glad I got my negative display fix and didn't have to spend G-Shock money for it Image

Full on egg head corporate job and I fly quite a bit so I'm really looking forward to adding to my collection of TSA friendly self defense tools. I have amcouple tactical pens, but I want to up the game and get into some custom stuff. Been watch obsessed for a while but this seems more fun.

Thanks for letting me play! "

The background of the negative display looks black, as opposed to the digits being black.

Positive on the Negative here.
Serves to integrate the dial with black cases better IMO.
