Totally Addicted to G-5500s
A couple weeks ago I picked up the Jam'In colors (camo style) 5500 from Nomadz on a whim. I've been through a lot of the different G-Shock models, but this was my first 5500, and it really fit my wrist well. It was comfortable, not too thick, and has a retro appeal that really does it for me. So then I did a bit of research to see what other 5500 models were out there, and made a list of the models I was interested in. Turns out 3 were on the sales forums at the same time last week, so it felt like destiny and I grabbed them all.
First, the 5500 grey Jam'In colors. These are what collectors sometimes call camo, but they're really just muddled colors.
Next up is the G-5500-ST9 TYO yellow version. This is one of two CIty Code LE's, this being the TYO (Tokyo) version. There's also a grey NYC version.
Then I grabbed this G-Shock G-5500SRF-2 Surfrider, which is the most discreet of my group, and the one that surprised me the most with how much I like it.
Finally the G-Shock G-5500BE Beams, my favorite. Beams is a Japanese fashion design company, and this model was a JDM limited production model. It's very rare, so I was shocked to see it for sale and had to get it. It's sort of a burnt orange color, so it's not as in your face as the orange GX-56 King.

awesome. I too like the 5500, great case and bracelet shape and actually wears well on my 7" wrist.
I have the 5500 30th Anniversary and love it. It's also solar and atomic.

Nice, Shap. Fun to have stuff like this to collect. If they had more solar atomic versions of the Riseman and Mudman, I'd be down for those. Haven't tried a 5500 yet - looks way comfy though.

Agreed, Drew! Do you still have yours? Don't see you post it. Looked real good on your wrist. Your pics really did it for me and turned me on to the 5500 I own

How much do the 30th annis run?
Re: Totally Addicted to G-5500s
As much as I hate to admit it, my black-on-black-on-black GWM5610BC wears a tad small, even on me.

That's a nice one to get. There are barely any atomic 5500s.aboen wrote:About $250. Most are shipped from japan.dukerules wrote:How much do the 30th annis run?

Awesome catches David!
I LOVE these 5500's. They've become a fave.
My computer died, all my pics there.
I'll try to upload mine on this thread.

Love the 5500s. Have a 30th Anniversary on right now and it's the most comfortable watch I own. Really like the TYO, have been searching for a NYC for quite a while now to no avail.

Do you know any strap adapters that work with the 5500? My brother has owned the camo version for a few years now and the strap is starting to tear. A nylon would be perfect.

For Cesar.
I put on the strap adapters with 24mm zulu and you can see gaps.
The bezel screws stand out.
But it can work as you can see.
I think using a GasGasBones strap slightly clipped where the spring bar goes at the lug ends would also work.
