G shock appreciation

Post by deepcdvr » Sun Feb 24, 2013 11:15 am

So... I took a pile of G's I had that were in a various degrees of disrepair to my Chinese watchmaker the other day. Cost me about 150 bucks worth of batteries and bands, but I'm set for a long time to come. Anyway, started wearing my GW-6900 and again came to realize just how cool G-shocks are. I don't know how much this thing cost me originally, but it is solar rechargeable, 200 meter resistant, hooks up with a satellite six times a day so time is always spot on and it is virtually indestructible. Fckn' cool.

We have a lot of ballers around here and some bad ass watches, but at the end of the day, you just can't beat THE G.

What's your favorite G-shock?

That one you have posted above is awesome. It was one of my two favorite gshocks I owned. I gave it to be of my friend who really is enjoying it.
Otherwise my fave is my Riseman.

Favorite would be the riseman followed closely by the 6900. Two of the best imo.

My only one is my fave . . . GW-5600J
Image
Solar and remote sync'd like yours . . . also had the battery iteration back in the late 80's.

When I got a c-card, even though I had a 5513 Sub on my wrist and a Suunto dive computer next to my depth gauge, the "G" was always in my BC pocket as a backup on every dive..

I've had a few in my time: riseman, mudman, gulfman, 5600, pathfinder, etc and I'd have to say my favorites were the gulfies followed by the riseman

My beloved and departed Mudman; didn't make it out of my last tour in the Sandbox :crybaby:

Have to get myself another one soon ... it freaking rocked. In fact, all of my Gs have been monster watches that have never let me down, evah!

Crappy picture, but I love the dark green on this one. The negative display is a pain in the ass though.

I almost bought one last week at the exchange. Glad I didn't, though, they wanted 180 bucks for it. Just saw one online for 159

Yep - not a fan of negative displays. Great in theory, horrible in practice

I don't mind the one on my 7900, but I do use the light whenever I feel the need ;)

I have a few, all are too good to let go. Totally agree with negative display. Hard to read, but love the coolness factor.

While I don't currently have a G-Shock in the collection, I have nothing but respect for them. They accompanied me through the majority of my military career and never let me down. Solid stuff.

Have always loved G's like most guys. I like all of mine and put me in the camp that negative displays are probably not worth the cool factor.

The 6900 might be the perfect G as the size is manageable, and everything is rounded, so it's very sleek.

Frogman that I got from Lance (AZpops). It's a beast and bad ass.

My wife wears a negative display 5600 i'll have to take photos of. It's beat to shit but runs great. With the time synching, alarm and timing functions, it's the perfect watch for her.

Thanks, Paul. Yep, that's the same as my departed Mudman. Unfortunately, he does not ship north of the border.

Merde.
