School Me on Frogmans

Post by CesarG » Tue May 31, 2011 11:30 am

Really have been tempted to add a Frogman to my small collection. So many models (as with a ll G shocks) so does anyone have any info on them? Links? Which ones to avoid? Best bang for the buck? I would love a Solar model... I know an atomic model was just released but that is a bit beyond my price range. :raised:
Maybe something under $250 new or used? Thanks, DWC

Well, the GWF1000 atomic frogmans were way too big for me. They are expensive too.

I think the best fit/price/styles are the GW200 series. Love them.
Fits me perfectly.
You can see the difference GW200CF on left and GWF1000 comparo

You can find GW200's around $200, sometimes less if you get lucky around $170 on sales forums.
I love mine, tough solar, non atomic works for me.

I always thought that the Frogman was cool looking, but tried one on and just wasn't feeling it... Just not for me I guess...

The GW200's are the best IMO. Fit/styles.

This collector loves them.

+1, those are the ones. Many are available periodically on WUS, as they're loaded with G collectors. There are some cool all black versions such as the Helios, Dawn Black, etc.
Basically, just pick a color. As noted above, I prefer the fit and feel of the Frogs on Zulus.

LOL, its not mine. I do wish for some there.

When I said this collector I meant another collector in Singapore who collects every Frogman model in multiples as you can see. Not all are shown.
He only wears 2-3 of them can you believe it.

I just did the math on that collection there. Its approx. worth retail price about $40k.

I just wanted to show some variations, and there are many styles/colors to choose aside from the many mods that can be done as well.

The first Frogman series, I believe those are the DW's are also cool, but prices for those in good condition are about the same as the GW200's.
So for me, I'd go for GW200's as they are still out there in great condition and decent prices as long as they're not the limited editions that are ultra popular and go for crazy money.

Many of those models especially the cool and popular ones are Japan Domestic market only or some in Asia only.
Also, the limited editions almost never sell outside of Japan or Asia.

So only way is to buy in Asia, ebay, Japan vendors etc...

Its a crazy addiction considering they're all electronics and resin.

My fave Frogman is the Murakami Frogman retails for $3400 but sells on ebay and to collectors for $6-8K. Go figure.

I've had 3 frogs in the past and I always got rid of them because I couldn't stand the watch size and digit size ratio.

ok, why can't I find any GW-200s for sale? Are they discontinued and replaced by the extra expensive 1000?

I just realized that Bill is right. I probably only add any comments of substance (or at least not of sarcasm) on one out of ten or so posts.

Damn you, Bill. :salute:
