Cutting up a Zulu - 10 min project
I had this orange Zulu for my BR02 but it was way too huge off the wrist. Putting my sewing machine skills to the test, took me 10 mins to convert to a 2 piece. Red thread partly cuz i didn't have any orange but mainly cuz I couldn't be bother to wait. Sits much better on the wrist now

Did pretty well...though I think ToxicNATO's business is still pretty safe ;-)
Ideally watch lugs curve or angle down to be near as possible to level with the case back. Otherwise you have these issues and the thing perches precariously on the wrist and straps like NATO's just don't work.

I think that’s cool - you just reminded me that I have a two piece Zulu I haven’t worn lol. Nice job!

Yep. Some watches just don’t sit well even on Zulu single pass. Really nice project Jeremy.bedlam wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2019 6:05 pmDid pretty well...though I think ToxicNATO's business is still pretty safe ;-)

I’m sure it’s comfy but it eliminates one of the best features of nylon straps; security.
My pick would be a single pass (3-ring) Zulu for that watch.

Re: Cutting up a Zulu - 10 min project
did you try the oem nylon velcro (assuming you got one with the watch)?
it's profiled to fit the case perfectly, and even though it's one piece and does pass underneath the case, it has dedicated sleeves for the lug bars on the top layer so it doesn't make a hard turn coming out of the spring bars.
if you didn't get an oem version with your watch, check out the bandrbands version. it was recommended to me by mr shortell and it's pretty darn close to the oem version.
(oh, and this is not a knock on your handiwork with the sewing machine by any means , I just found that strap to be the most comfortable and best fitting alternative I tried while owning that watch.)

Thanks for the info about the BandRbands version, I will check them out. I didn't get OEM with the watch and have been looking out for one.jtbenson wrote:did you try the oem nylon velcro (assuming you got one with the watch)?

I think the stitching could have been better on my attempt but it's ok for now

Well done.
Re: Cutting up a Zulu - 10 min project
this reminded me that the BandRBands strap would be a good option for a new pickup. after hunting down the strap, I realized I misspoke---these are not one piece, they are two piece, and do not pass underneath the watch head. apologies for any confusion.
still comfortable as all get out on unwieldy watch heads though...
