Down Under Method
I don't think a video like this has been posted here before.
This may get me wearing nato straps more often.
See video below.

If someone can post the video here, instead of the link, it would be appreciated.

Not the thread I was hoping for based on the title.

I'm kinda disappointed. I figured this would have taken a completely different turn.

Re: Down Under Method
Took me almost a month to give it a go (video helped).
I imagine many people not liking this, but it works fine for me.
I was always put off by the strap folds near the watch head.
Definitely prefer this look.
The method puts everything under the wrist.
Despite how it looks, it's comfortable.
(strap is not as tight as it appears in picture)

This is how I have my Haveston set up. It’s awkward when you put it on but works well.
I don’t understand why this is “new”. These fools never tried moving the watch to a different part of the strap?

Re: Down Under Method
Personally I like the way NATOs wear standard but I should give this a try. I haven’t strayed from the ISOfrane on the NAFT in a while though.

Re: Down Under Method
Doesnt this “undo” a nato?
If a watch with nato worn properly breaks the pin or pops out etc, the watch stays on the wrist. It doesnt go screaming down the canyon wall or whatever.
Doesnt this way undo that? Now if the pin breaks doesnt the watch now come completely off the wrist? No more nato “safety catch” ?

Was that wrong? Should I not have done that?

Re: Down Under Method
Ok, I watched it again this morning.
The doubled up part is what keeps the watch on your wrist if it loses a pin. It might feel better this way, but again, if the pin pops out the watch is GONE.
If you wear a nato as intended the watch will stay on your wrist. This may “feel” and “look” nice but it takes away the retention of the nato with a lost pin when doing active stuff.

Re: Down Under Method
I don’t wear Natos but watching the video, doesn’t it act like a one piece Nato in this configuration? The strap is still going under the lug pins on both sides.DrWapenshaw wrote: Ok, I watched it again this morning.

When buckled, if a pin came out the watch should still be connected at one lug pin to the strap correct?

Re: Down Under Method
Just a heads up that it is a pain in the butt putting the strap on the wrist compared to the standard method.

Re: Down Under Method
Even a one piece nato still keeps the watch on your wrist if you lose a spring bar. Because the same single piece of nylon weaves between both sets of pins.DrWapenshaw wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2019 3:51 amOk, I watched it again this morning.
