Unable to Remove Spring Bars: Omega 166.068 Banana
Dear All:
May I please ask for advice as to how to remove these particular spring bars that are installed on my Omega 166.068 Banana?
I just bought this watch from its original owner, and it came on a NATO. I have an Omega steel mesh bracelet on another Omega watch that I want to transfer to this watch but I am unable to remove these spring bars!
Any advice would be most appreciated.
Thank you.

Have you tried either one monitor or 2 screwdrivers?

Those appear to be shoulder less spring bars, so you’ll need to snip them out with a pair of wirecutters. Then buy the correct bars to fit with your strap or bracelet.

Yep, Hop is right. Carefully snip them out and replace them with correct ones. Terry at Toxicnatos can set you up.

Replacing them is probably a good idea, anyway. Cutting them out is the best way to go.

When making the snip it's best to have a Mohel do it and follow with plenty of wine.
BTW shoulder less bars are stupid. And frustrating.

They're fine for drilled lugs. Probably better than shouldered.ericf4 wrote: BTW shoulder less bars are stupid. And frustrating.

True. True but I don't own any drilled lug watches that I recall, maybe the U1 and that's it.watchmavan wrote:They're fine for drilled lugs. Probably better than shouldered.ericf4 wrote: BTW shoulder less bars are stupid. And frustrating.

Like Hoppy said cut them out.

Simple side cutter will take them right off. Will be easier if you slide the spring bar to one side and cut the smaller part.

I was recommended to use shoulderless spring bars with a NATO or rubber strap for safety as the flanges on shouldered spring bars can sometimes catch with the strap and pull out.
I've never had one come out accidentally and a pair of wire cutters gets them out quite easily if required.

Yes, best way is to snip them off and get a new set from Terry.

tell the person who told you a nato will catch on the flanges of a spring bar to show you how it does it. Oh and record it for meadg31 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 11:38 pmI was recommended to use shoulderless spring bars with a NATO or rubber strap for safety as the flanges on shouldered spring bars can sometimes catch with the strap and pull out.
