Putting the strap before the watch....

Post by JDC222 » Thu Nov 02, 2017 9:19 am

Have you ever bought a strap, knowing that you don't necessarily have the watch to mount it on yet? Sometimes I see a strap, usually leather and I buy it in anticipation of having the right watch for it one day! :geek:

I am now searching for the perfect watch, for one of Joe's Diaboliq straps. Ideally, a pilot or field watch...

That's a cool strap and you were just ahead of me in posting your "I'll take it" not.

I agree a field-type watch would look good on that. Even something basic such as a Hamilton Field Khaki would look good. Not certain if those are only 20mm though.

You omitted dive watches! I use leather on all my divers (don't dive:)

Thian, how well do your leather straps survive the warmer climate you live in ?

Did the same thing when I bought the 24mm cracked buffalo grain strap from Joe's post. The only watch I own with 24mm lugs is a Dan Henry 1970, but liked the strap so much I figured what the hell?

I've purchased $500-700 custom Keith Brown grips before ever considering a gun. Twice.

Let both guns come to me over time which was a fun way of keeping the hunt alive.
