Yep, I ordered a 20mm "carrier" model today.

Just received my 20mm Carrier today and put it on the SLA017. Works really well IMO. The colors are muted, so while they add a bit of style, they aren't overpowering.

It does look nice, but i was struck by how thick it is, Chris. 1st thing I noticed when i walked in your office was how high it sat off your wrist lol
Re: Got my haveston nato today
Yeah, it is thick. 1.5mm per their specifications (which is really only .1 or .2mm thicker than other premium NATO's such as Terry's, but you can notice it). With the double layer under the watch, that adds up to 3mm of added height. The SLA017 isn't a thick watch by itself, but adding the extra 3mm under it does make it feel tall.
I'm going to give it a day or so then decide if I want to trim off the lower nylon flap off and wear it Zulu style.
In my limited time with the strap, I'm putting myself in the side of the sliding keeper debate.
I like not having a pile of folded nylon on the left side of my wrist.
I also like the detail of how Haveston thinned and stiffened the last maybe 1cm of the tail tip. This helps keep the tail tucked into the last keeper.

This is probably the most awkward visual angle

That look would drive me nuts, although you can carry a couple of pens with you at all times, lol

That's the look I get with long L2L watches on natos thanks to my 6.75" wrist. It was very annoying on the U1, otherwise I would still have one, as it rocked on natos.

Thats why I like the basic toxic nato more than the premium ones. They are much thinner.Ryeguy wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2017 5:02 amYeah, it is thick. 1.5mm per their specifications (which is really only .1 or .2mm thicker than other premium NATO's such as Terry's, but you can notice it). Well, gave the Haveston a bris tonight. Wears much closer to the wrist.
Just a quick snip and cauterized the cut with a soldering iron.
Maggie approves.

Nicely done ! It's not about the wrist size

That is a nice combo, Andy. If you have a soldering iron handy, that is the right tool to cauterize after the snip. It allows you to be precise with the heat.
I've worn the SLA daily for the past week on the snipped Haveston. It is the most comfortable way to wear this kind of thick NATO.

Re: Got my haveston nato today
I've got two carrier straps incoming for the dornbluth.
I knew coming into the strap it was thick but the recent posts have me a little concerned. I have a weird concave but fatty impression on the top of my wrist which I hope hides the overall thickness so I hope it works out.

Re: Got my haveston nato today
I wouldn't worry too much. If it rides too high, trimming takes just a second.
I'm a convert to Art's clan of NATO clippers. The Seiko hasn't moved a bit on the Haveston even without the extra flap.
It wears nice and close to the wrist this way. Wrist shot from the airplane seat.

I don't think they ride too high, but I guess they'd be better if they were a little thinner.
My photo probably isn't all that helpful.

Where are you guys snipping these straps? Once modified, do they become two piece straps? Help?

Got mine today – thick and stiff, and neither in a good way. Branding, colors and hardware is top-notch, but I'd say Terry still rules this roost.
