Needed: New nylon/cordura strap for my DSOTM for hot weather

Post by outtatime » Thu Apr 20, 2017 5:30 am

For reasons I'm sure known only to Jared Kushner, Omega decided to make an awesome cordura strap for the DSOTM and then completely ruin it by putting on a leather back. I HATE leather, don't like it and don't even like it some more, especially in hot weather. A leather strap will last approximately 1.5 days in the humid Ohio summertime when I'm wearing it.

So, I basically want exactly the same strap that will work with the deployant, but I want it sans-leather. As in, no cows were harmed in the making of this strap. My DSOTM is a vegan-don't make it sad.

Any thoughts?

How about one of the Hirsch Performance straps with the rubber backing? I believe one of them looks like sailcloth material.

Looked at those, but I want something that would work with the ceramic deplyant or buckle. I'd actually like a sailcloth strap but most I've seen are the fakey leather stamped to look like sailcloth BS.

if you want nylon then just get a nylon nato from Terry and cut off all that extra hoops and loops nonsense and it'll look and wear slick

I'd really like a normal strap though. Do you think anyone could make a canvas that would fit the deplpyant? I'll pay good money.

Sure I'd need a deployment to make sure it fits or at least precise measurements

Well I've spent a week trying to find ANY kind of straps that would do for summer and actually fit this watch. Thought I had something good going with a Hadley Roma sailcloth only to find out it's discontinued (shout out to fredastraps for letting me order 4 and then get told 3 days later they only had one, then 2 more days later that they really only had 0). Just about anything else I've found has a STUPID LEATHER LINING. What is everyone's obsession with lining water-resistant material with LEATHER?!?!?!?!

All I want in life is a Cordura/canvas-y looking strap that looks close to the DSOTM OEM. I'm about to contact Omega's source directly and see if they'll make me one.

Why not ask Art to modify the Omega strap?

I have mine on a Drew canvas. He could likely make one that fits the deployant.

Just get a canvas strap with a regular tang and be done with it.

Don't want a regular tang, I want the ceramic deployant that cost me a small fortune.

I do like that red/black canvas if I could get something similar for the deployant.

I found that TAG makes one for their Aquaracer:

Supposedly is 21mm, lined in rubber. I think I could make it fit. Gonna try to see if I can order one.

I agree about the leather backing comment.
