Rubber B? Everest?
Rubber B? Everest?
I'm looking to pick up either of the above for my SDc. Anyone have experience with both? I found a few comparisons online, but curious to hear the thoughts here as well.

I loved rubber B for my Panerai but hated it for my Rolex. (Aesthetically speaking)
The holes for strap sizing could be closer so it can be hard to get an exact fit.
Never tried an Everest unfortunately.

Side note: I love the 243.
Re: Rubber B? Everest?
243 is still King
BTW, has anyone successfully removed the internal cyclops from one of those?

Re: Rubber B? Everest?
I remember reading something a watchsmith said once that the cyclops is forged into the crystal as one piece.
So unless I was misinformed it's not removable, and I don't think Panerai has a similar watch with same crystal size to swap it out.

Both correct. I would still have a 243 today if you could get rid of the cyclops.

No they definitely don't. It's like 5-5.5mm thick IIRC. And Pam is going the other way now with thinner flatter crystalsnweash wrote:I remember reading something a watchsmith said once that the cyclops is forged into the crystal as one piece.

I thought the crystal had inner ar also, so if you were able to remove the cyclops you will have an issue with the ar.

Re: Rubber B? Everest?
Have both straps, and prefer Everest for looks on the sub/sdc size watch due to it being a more substantial strap, but I think it depends on wrist size. The Everest bows out a bit while the rubberb goes straight down so the bigger your wrist the better the fit for the Everest. On a sdc, I think the bowing would be even more pronounced unless you have a larger wrist and wear it tighter on the wrist. For both, I much prefer the version that uses the clasp. Everest with clasp has become my go to combo on my sub and Blnr. That said, I like the rubberb on my deep sea for fit and comfort.

The RubberB was fantastic on the Deep Sea when i owned it.

Re: Rubber B? Everest?

Loved the rubberB on my Pam but wasn't in love on the SDC. It's also a pain to put on.

Why is it a pain? Is it like putting the bracelet on kinda pain?

The rubberB AD says that they always struggle with those due to tight tolerances.
Some models are easier they said.
