New Squale Rubber Strap - Got it, but I don't get it!
I am not a fan of the OEM rubber strap on the 50 ATMOS, I think it dominates the watch and have been wearing mine on a
NOMOS braided strap I picked up on the sales forum.
I came across a new Squale rubber strap on Gnomon and ordered one with polished hardware.
I like the design as well as the taper.
My concern with the new strap is how much shorter in length it than the OEM rubber strap.
The shorter lengths are not very different.
However, the longer length is not very close to the OEM.
My wrist is a bit over 7 !/2" and I can get to the 1st hole on the new strap without it being too tight, but that is certainly not ideal,
the strap barely extends past the 1st keeper. I used either the 4th or 5th hole on the OEM strap.
As far as I know XL's in this strap are not available.
What I don't get is why make a new strap so much shorter than the one packaged with the watch.
OEM strap lengths are 135mm/80mm
New strap lengths are 115mm/75mm
As seen in the pictures, the new strap seems almost grey in comparison to the other strap. I think it may just be a
protective coating that will wash off. I haven't done that in case I choose to return or flip the strap.
I have the picture, so here is a comparison of the buckles.

Happy I got it on the leather then, and not the rubber.

I love that orange Squale on your nato. It's spectacular. That rubber strap is not for me.

is that the Asian model of rubber straps? you should email them back and ask for the "fat merican" model

Re: New Squale Rubber Strap - Got it, but I don't get it!
I decided to keep the strap and put it on the watch.
A lot more good news than bad:
I like the look of the strap on the watch and it is quite comfortable.
If you're into this, the smell is pleasant, but not overpowering.
There was a protective coating on the strap that I rinsed off, but it is still not a deep black color.
The only bad news is related to the length.
I removed the 2nd keeper and can wear the strap comfortably on the 1st hole.
That does allow some of the tail to extend passed the keeper, but not a lot.
I will try to add a wrist shot or two to the pictures below.
All in all, I'm glad I picked this up as an option to the OEM rubber strap.
I'm a big fan of Isofrane straps, but am not sure if it would suit the Squale.
Without a doubt, the Squale wears smaller than it's dimensions and is my smallest looking watch.
I think the tapered design of this strap helps offset the small appearance of the watch.
If anyone has their Squale on an Isofrane, it would be great to see that combo.

Hey Matt my Iso style rubber strap is a littler shorter than the Iso and not as thick. So it won't be over powering on that watch. Oh and NO smell.

Matt... The 50 Atmos was my watch back in 2010-2012.. This was the first achieved grail and it definitely is an awesome watch.
I wore it constantly on Iso and if I recall correctly it felt nice, not too thick and not overpowering the watch considering that the Atmos wears small.
This is the only pic I found of it, let me search for more and post if I find a better one.
