Maddog buckles?

Post by manitoujoe » Mon Jan 25, 2016 6:34 am

Have a line on a Maddog strap with buckle. I'm kinda new to leather straps, so looking for an opinion before I leap.

It's an exotic, stingray strap 24/24 with a 42mm buckle. Is that buckle size normal or way extreme? I'm used to the metal keepers on Zulus. Lol

Here's a pic:

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Way too extreme for my tastes.. I think after being used to Zulus, this will feel HUGE

If we ditch the buckle is this kind of a strap a good strap to start with or a stingray a little extreme as well

This one is Huge! I chopped my bronze one down on a mill and made it much more wearable. I highly highly recommend the new style Maddog high tech buckles which are actually smaller than a std pre v buckle and looks killer. They come in SS, bronze, SS/Carbon mix and full carbon.

Yeah too big, can't be comfortable.
Two large keepers is kinda silly
Too many holes
I have no idea how to make stingray straps, but I imagine it's glued on top of something, what's the other side look like?

not a fan...imo you would be throwing your money away. seriously. you may not think so right now, and you may not think so ever...but I think you did.

can you wear this with Lululemon of course, you can. but the strap really doesn't have anything appealing to the eye. Maybe if you put it on a oversized orange swatch but that's about it.

again, my opinion only...if you like it, then that's all that really counts.

Maddog buckles?

Post by Danny_T » Mon Jan 25, 2016 4:15 pm

The strap itself is really nice actually. It's the strap Clemens offered with the ch6 and ch8. It's leather backed and VERY comfy and flexible. Usually stingray straps are stiff as hell but this one is really nice and comfy.

Ditch the second keeper which is floating one anyways. I only use the one fixed one on the strap.

Better idea. Don't buy it.

Do you want to feel like you have a second watch on inside of your wrist? This will fit the ticket.

I bet he can sell the buckle and recoup 1/2 the cost of the whole package

This is perfect. Great size. Now- just etch a hammerhead shark into the buckle and BAM, instant classic.
