Those are fantastic. I was so jealous when I saw them on Instagram.

Drew must have posted them on Instagram, I don't have an account. Thanks for the compliments, I thought it was a cool idea and something to leave the nephew. Think bronze/canvas will be cool in 2045?

Recoil Rob wrote:As above, I wanted a canvas for my Armida brass 42. I contacted Drew about making one and he told me there was a bit of a wait but when my number came up he was a pleasure to work with.

My dad was in the US Army in the early 1950's but his duffel bag had been recycled from WWII. On one side was the original users name and number from WWII (I was able to find his records online, a gentleman from Georgia) and on the other was my father's. The duffel was old and tattered at the bottom but the sides were intact so I sent it off to Drew and he was able to make me 2 straps incorporating my father's name and number. He was also able to use the two paint patches, yellow and orange, that were on the duffel, I imagine some type of unit identifier but I'm not sure.

The 22mm was made for the Armida, will have to look for a watch with 24mm lugs for the other strap. I'm sure I'm not the first guy here to buy a watch for a strap...

Thanks Drew!

Those are cool. Makes me wonder if I can find my old duffel bag. Or my dads old hunting duffel bag.

I decided that the strap Drew made from my Dad's Army duffel just didn't sit well with the green dial Armida I had it made for, something about the 3 different greens, the strap, the dial and the lume. The lume especially, on the Armida it glows all the time and it clashed with the strap. I'll be getting a Gunny Strap or some kind of weathered leather that will compliment the watch.

However, this left me with the great Drew strap and no watch! What an opportunity! Since the strap has military DNA the choice was Hamilton who supplied watches to the US Armed Forces during WWII and after. All the original Hamilton's were to small for this 22mm strap so I went with the Pioneer model, not the current 44mm auto but the discontinued 42mm mechanical handwind. I was able to find one NIB for a decent price. The lugs were 21mm but no problem fitting the 22mm canvas.

The 42 is a great size for me and only 11mm thick, wears very well. The green of the strap stands alone, the black dial with creme complements the paint and stenciling of Dad's info on the strap.

Not a dive watch I know but I thought there might be some interest. Now I'm thinking a black faced diver for the 24mm Drew....

thanks,

Rob

Hamilton and canvas are meant for each other. Drew did a great job on that one.

Drew nailed this. Combine it with the Ennebi roller buckle. Perfection.

It is dreamy. If I could find another Ennebi roller buckle, I'd be set. For now, I'll have to swap out buckles with strap changes. A minor quibble. Totally worth it.
