Re: CD-2 Prototype
Slava is in the Resco, not Soprod. The latter is decidedly a superior movement

Also, is Prescher building parts?
No, the LE case will be made by Fricker. IF Thomas Prescher was building parts, it would not be 3200 Euro. Add a zero
It will use the Mhvj cal 2005.
Dials from Cador and hands from Estima
Handmade Metta Catharina strap by Robert Ross in the UK
And assembled, regulated, and all quality controls by Thomas Prescher.
He is building this prototype however, and using the Mhvj in it.
The regular edition is using the Soprod A10, and a nicely finished one at that.

Re: CD-2 Prototype
Turns out I missed Basel, it has come down to the wire and almost complete, but i decided to pull the plug not to rush anything.
These dials are also being redone due to a slight error on the print distance from the sides of the box, CD-2.
Its so minor, 0.07mm but for some reason i see it, the crown has not been made yet either, and the winding stem needs to be longer.
These are tiny details, but everything takes time, and no point showing a watch that is 97% complete.
Different maybe if it was the first concept showing, then it would not need to work.
I should say Thomas Prescher has put in some hours beyond his working day trying for me too, but its not only me that has a watch being produced, and he cant do everything i suppose.
So this thread will run a while longer with some pauses between parts, as i move the family and company to Perth, Western Australia.
There shows some dust on the dial and we need a light box, but here are some pics of the dial being scrapped, as it will look the same.
The dial is overall extremely nice, and the appliqués are perfect.
They did invite me over to the factory to see what they do, as its only 15mins away from Basel, but i wont have have time before the weekend so can only meet them at Basel and i hope some time later this year, maybe when the CD-1 dials are being made, i will visit them and take some photo's ( with their permission) and make a thread of just one component.

Re: CD-2 Prototype
I guess you have to be a little OCD to want to get into the watchmaking business; I just hope you're getting some sleep, Todd.
Anyway, take your time and don't worry; we've all waited this long and we're in it to the bitter end (and by "bitter end" I mean "when a CD-2 is sitting on my wrist"). Besides, I need as much time as possible to rebuild the war chest after a certain incoming that should land next week...
Regards,
Adam
PS - The "flawed" dial looks great; can't wait to see the real deal.

We are altering 4 items on the dial to make it worth the effort.
Small details, as well as making the box with CD-2 , 701M .5mm less in height and the text .25mm less in height. Things like that.
Mhvj continue to be a strange lot, and difficult to deal with, even after the wine i sent them.
Knew i should have sent the good stuff and not drank it myself.
We are having a sit down with them at Basel and hope we can come to an understanding. I will make sure i am drinking coffee only that day!

Todd, I am extremely grateful that you are the perfectionist that you are. No doubt that the CD-2 and any models with the Ægir brand name will be nothing less than perfect. I admire you for your perseverance and wish you all the best. I will wear the CD-2 with the utmost pride.

+1 Todd. We are grateful that you're attending to these details.

Re: CD-2 Prototype
Todd, no doubt there are significant delays going on, but I don't think any of us were disillusioned to think that undertaking a project of this caliber would be easy. I can bet those dials are gonna be fantastic - hell, the whole package is gonna be f#$*%n awesome! I just wish I could have found a way to stay on the CD2-LE first 15 list. If you do more than 15 of this version (mhvj movement, T. Prescher doing the work, etc), and my situation changes by the time this whole thing comes to fruition, I'll be in like Flynn.
You give respect, you'll get respect - you just don't know your place.

Re: CD-2 Prototype
See, its all built up now, and now i am shitting it, that it does not look the way it should!
I should have never said a word years ago, and plugged away in secret.
Oh well, next model i will then.
Mhvj, yeah, ,,,,,,note to self, dont drink before meeting

Re: CD-2 Prototype
I have to agree with all that has been said. I appreciate the painstaking level of detail and ultimate level of finsh this watch will have after years of having so many watches released with known issues or lack of QC that was blamed on the separate vendors afterwards. Waiting is not easy but when you come to expect value it will all be worth it in the end. Count me as ready and patiently waiting as well.
BTW : I love the look of the dial and your minor tweaks will make it even better. I really like applied markers on my dials.
So Adam: When is the unveiling?

Measure twice, Cut once. You are taking the right approach.

I live by that at work, and i thought that had been done here, but not so.
Still, the issues are small, easily fixed with some money with minimal delay, as they "wash" the dials, re-print, re-apply the appliques and we are good to go. Oh, and make new printing tools, but that can be fast tracked i believe.
Some talks with the movement people, then all should be go again.

Re: CD-2 Prototype
Well, Thomas Prescher has been burning the midnight oil, and this watch is now complete for showing.
There will be a new dial in later, a new revised crown, etc.
The photos stopped, but its all been so busy i didn't ask, and will hopefully get the rest of the pictures to finish this thread properly.
I will get the rest of the pictures at Basel.

I should kick my own ass for getting off the list. but if things take a turn for the better....
Todd, that is looking fantastic. I know we're seeing the prototype - can you tell us what might differ for the final product, if anything?
