Ægir Knives
Well,, i am told i cant show breasts here, either my own or others.
So, how about this then.
Finished in a couple of weeks, having the custom leather sheath done right now.
I plan to develop with the same maker, should he wish, a purpose dive knife, modeled on the one that got me out of some slight trouble back in 08.
This one is the deck knife version,

Todd,
Are you planning on a butterfly or straight razor model? That is more Pat's speed.

Perhaps with attached knuckle duster and skull crushing pommel?

Yeah, even a shiv model or hybrid might get Pat to pony up.
Strong work BTW, keep it up.

Re: Ægir Knives
Wow, that looks pretty cool, can you fill us in on the Steel used, and the handle material?
Will you be offering these for sale also? Like the looks.

Yes, that might help!SCM64 wrote:Wow, that looks pretty cool, can you fill us in on the Steel used, and the handle material?

RWL34 Steel, handmade by Stuart Mitchell
Black Micarta handle,
150mm blade
130mm handle
Handmade leather sheath
I am planning to do them to order, providing Stuart can do a better lead time than this prototype. ( 10 months)
They are not exactly cheap, but handmade never is.
I never planned to sell this one, but instead it was meant for my personal deck knife.
Its costing me a lot, and i just did the conversion to USD and nearly fell off the chair!
Lucky it has a back.
If i was to sell these, they would be sold at cost! There is a reason for this, and i will be straight up about it.
Watches, knives, and guns, all seem to be liked by the same people. This knife like i said, was originally meant for me only, and its at a cost of 350 UK pounds, plus shipping to Spain, about
600 USD.
The idea is to promote watches from Aegir in knife forums, and if Stuart makes them a touch cheaper for customers of mine, then he promotes through watch forums.
I am trying to work on the dive knife, for the same reason, and some personal reasons too.
I hope it to be Titanium, and a fully serrated blade with Kevlar handle.
Its more personal than commercial.

Re: Ægir Knives
Thanks for the additional info Todd. I think doing some cross marketing to the Knife enthusiasts is a great idea. Keep Flashlights in mind also, same group.
A limited edition package of a watch, and tactical size knife and flashlight would be pretty cool.
I'm no expert, but not sure Ti is very good as a blade metal.

Re: Ægir Knives
LOVE LOVE LOVE that knife Todd. And $600 USD is not bad for a custom, hand made knife. You definitely have my attention with that deck knife. Doing some cross over marketing never hurts and like Steven said, you got several folks here who are into knives and flashlights (and guns).
You give respect, you'll get respect - you just don't know your place.
Re: Ægir Knives
Bad ass man. That's great work for your first knife. Much better than my first, that's for sure!

You may laugh! but,,,,,,,,,,,
No best not to go there!, i used to own a few, never had a perfect one.
I have some ideas, but only a mis-match of other designs, USP base with threaded barrel but then thats a "HOMAGE" !

Re: Ægir Knives
you poor misguided man :-) Perfection is a Les Baer custom 1911 forged alluminum frame (Baer discontinued this), stainless slide, in commander size, match barrel, built by Evolution Gun Works in Quakertown Pa (1 of the top 50 pistolsmiths in the USA) all for less than the price of a nice Snowflake Tudor. I digress just hurry up on the CD-1 will ya. :-)
