Aegir is still here

Since I have been quiet on the watch front for quite some time, I thought a quick note here as a little update is on the cards.

The costs of producing watches have been hard with the Australian dollar and inconsistent sales.
As many of you know, I have a CNC machine and was working to produce the case in-house. Harder than I thought! But , things are coming along and I have a glimpse of the Forrest through the trees.
So while nothing in the very short term is happening, I just wanted to say that I have changed the business model and things are happening (slowly) behind the scenes.
Buckles have been a big help for me, in terms of running this machine and putting the finish on parts. I still have a day and night job to contend with and two young girls whom I am a taxi and ATM for, but I am getting a lot of machine time.
Next year when things are up and running, I am adding a second machine and will try to transition from full time employment into running a full time business. Maybe wishful thinking, but I am an optimist !

I have some way to go to producing a finished product, but it is happening and will actually happen!
Thanks to everyone here for the support over the years , it is and has been very much appreciated.

I had one done here in Australia.
The CSIRO is a government department and just so happened they are the only people in the country who do DLC. Sent them two buckles and waited as long as you would expect a government department to make you wait. Got the buckles back with a note saying they could likely do better on a series.

I wrote back saying I was "confused" because even the cheapest back yard Chinese company would not have sent this embarrassment . If they only"think" they can do better, then they have serious issues to work out.
It was really really bad!
So no DLC anything planned at this point.
That CD-1 DLC you have, more than likely will be 1of 8 only. Ever.

Alright Todd, I have to be happy with the DLC Isofrane buckle for now but proud to keep a 1/8 in the collections.
Keep up the good work man.

I've often wondered why there aren't more in house cases. Would you mind sharing what you found difficult? Do you have a five axis machine?

4 axis machine. All of it! Had to learn it all from scratch, with no help other than YouTube. Have a busy family life at the same time and work shift work. So has been hard to get time at the machine.
I didn't know what an end mill was when I started. Seriously

Great to hear, would love to see your next project. I still admire the DLC CD2 that I was
lucky enough to buy here on the DWC, it's one of the most honest tool watches ever.
