Aegir update
Copied from the email update
Sorry Gents,
I should have had this out awhile ago, but,,,, Truth is, I changed computers, changed severs, then did something really smart, and tried to transfer a live site.
Gave me an excuse however, to change email programs, and make a complete new site, since all was down anyway. I missed heaps of mail, and it still floats around out
there in cyberspace, somewhere.
I needed a developer with the old site, and now I am using Wordpress, which even I can administer. Granted, it does not look as cool as the old one, but cool enough.
Currently being worked on, and should be complete soon.
So, to the point.
Mhvj is another reason I never wrote an update, as they were not responding to me for quite some time. Have to admit, if I didn't need them so much, I would make it my life's mission to
ruin them after the carry on they have heaped on me. Anyway, before I wander off on a rant, we are getting somewhere, and I cut and paste from today's letter.
'' Hello Todd, We have 85% components in house now, and we’ll have all components in house in 3 weeks 3 weeks more to assembly and control movements. Total 6 weeks Delivery time : December 14

So while a Christmas watch is not ideal, it will still take Thomas Prescher some time to assemble, making an equally unappealing New Years watch.
I know that time of year is costly , and many tend to put off such purchases and I do apologize for that. Providing of course, after 2 years they finally give me the movements!
Many things have been put off due to that investment being out there, but I am moving forward with some other aspects of the CD-1 to at least speed up things when I get a return.
Also, when we made the crowns, a swivel was built in to them, to aid in not crossing the thread when tightening the crown. It swivels a little too much, and I am changing them all, so I will email everyone soon
about how we will go about that, (provided the customer wants to of course) and while it is getting the crown changed over to one with less swivel, the watch will get cleaned up and regulated for the inconvenience.
I am working on getting the last CD-2 watches (15 cases in Germany) DLC ''Diamond like Carbon'' treated, and am waiting for a cost quote.
Those ones will have Crystal case backs too.
I am asking the case maker for a quote also, to make a tiny run of 5 CD-2 Titanium watches, to end the model.
It will be less than 100 watches made, in fact, providing we even make the ones we have, LE watches that is, the total including LE if the 5 Ti ones are doe, is only 80 watches.
There is one person that may want a different config for maybe 10 more, and I will look into that now, but even so, will be less than 100 pcs total.

Re: Aegir update
DLC will not be happening, Fricker say they are looking for a new supplier to do this, and they told me that some 6 months back too, so all things watches, that is 2 years longer in real years! so I will not be doing the CD-2 in DLC, or this wait will never end and my sense of humor is all but stretched to its limit with the movements for the LE

Re: Aegir update
Seeing as how I had to bow out on the 1st offering of the CD-2 LE, I'd love to jump on the Ti CD-2. Hope to hear more on this Todd.

OK, well I have some interest, need more, but some I have.
As long as Fricker does not try to hike up the cost saying its hard to machine as costs heaps, as it simply is not that hard and does not cost so much, then we might be able to make some to end the CD-2. Setup costs might be difficult for only 10 watches, as that does take time, and they might not even want to do it.
If all is ok however, I plan to pass on only the costs that they charge me, so if Ti is $100, $150 more a case, and the crystal case back cost me $40 more, then we will be in the ball park of $150 to $200 more per watch for example and so on depending on the cost.
I just need to wait and see their offer.
It will be deposit (pre order) type thing on this one though, if the offer is good to start, because if I make them and the market is not there after the 20 week production (I hope less) and making the CD-1 at the same time will be more than I can take on to be left holding stock.

No, the original 15 cases, are going to be the last standard watches, so the only ones with revised lug holes are the 25 LE cases.nishant wrote:Todd, what happens to those cases u wanted for DLC ?
