Buckle for leather straps

Post by t20569cald » Thu Jan 19, 2012 7:14 am

I had a few things lined up, and a few things fell through as well.
I have this sample, which may be supplied to me, and I like the buckle a lot! It is unfortunately having a pin that is a fraction oversize for the handmade Metta, and today I decided to force it through, and did some damage to my own strap.
I thought it might, but wanted to see how much I could stress the Metta, and it was what I expected. Lucky for me it can be sent back and repaired. Well, if it could not, I would never have tried.

My other leather straps, all still handmade by the same maker, is far tougher, and I was able to get the pin through without damage.

So what it means is, I will have to make new Metta straps, 30 in total if he still has enough left, to fit this buckle, and sell on the current 17 I have, which fit the Panerai style buckles perfectly, providing of course they agree to provide me the buckles in writing. At this stage I am just trying it out and we agreed that it could happen.
Most of you will know this buckle, and I must say, I like it far more than I thought I would.
Scratches on this watch are there, as it is my every day wearer.

Seriously, every aspect of this watch is shaping up to the absolute best-of-breed.

Looks terrific, Todd.

That looks great Todd. Will they say Ennebi on them?

 No. But I am not hiding where I am getting things, in fact the very opposite.
I think they are making a great product, and I am more than happy to use them.
There will be no engraving, as I prefer some clean lines on the buckle.

Yes, that can be arranged, but they are all 24mm

Awesome!

Is the Metta strap 24/24?

I love these Ennebi buckles (in theory... I've never actually owned one).

Yes, nothing will taper. 24/24.
The buckle I have here is Ti, and even goes not bad with the brushed Stainless.
It is not exactly the cheapest thing, but as far as buckles go, it is worth it.
Expensive exercise to replace the Metta straps as well, but as I am taking it from 15 to 25, I have to have some made anyway.

Outstanding choice. Another well done element to this watch.

Cool.

I'm strictly a taper guy, especially on 24mm straps. So if I ever spring for the LE, I guess the Metta strap will have to stay unused. I wonder if Ennebi makes any 22mm buckles....
