New Dials

Post by t20569cald » Mon Jun 27, 2011 11:05 pm

New dials are complete, and on their way to Thomas Prescher and Fricker.
Waiting on A10 movements still, but should be with us anytime.
Note the alignment, got it right this time, changed the second makers at 6 o'clock to move up the text for a clearer view and most of all, changed the font on CD-2 and 701M to stand out a little better than the old.

Some may notice one is Blue. I had 10 second hands dipped in Blue as well as 5 dials from each model, the LE and Standard with Blue 701M. It was done as a diving colleague wanted one, so I made a few.
For the LE it will be offered on any serial, for the standard it will be numbers 31 through 35.

The layout of the CD-2 and 701M looks way better than before, nice!

I know Pat I know this is too small for my wrist I know that but I have been so impressed by it that I keep coming back and looking at the photo's and trying to convince myself I could handle a smaller watch in the collection.

OK Pat lets start the unofficial pre order list and see if we can't get Todd to move it into production.......

Lookin' good! Are the indices in both the same? The one on the red font dial has more depth/contrast and perhaps its just the angle of the photo.

Well yeah, I liked that, "if you know where 12 is"

But seriously, this watch grew from the CD-1 (without timing bezel) which in turn was designed solely as a commercial divers watch.
No need for any dive functions, except WR and He valve.
When conceptualizing the watch, I did it with the "one watch" idea in mind, as most people only have one watch for all uses.
Not like you chaps.

A watch that would work as a diving watch while being dressy enough and the right size to wear everyday.
A compromise here, a compromise there, and the CD was born.
When it was in the more advanced design stages, the designer who was doing it (not me at that point) talked with me about what was needed and what not. In the end we came out with this and it was exactly what it was supposed to be.

I might make a scuba watch later, ok i will make one at some point, and lume the shit out of it, add a lume dot to the second hand, take the HEV away, get a crazy orange minute hand and lume the bezel under a sapphire ring and make the thing out of DLC Ti.
Not a watch I would wear, but something that people want.

So at this time, the one model being released and the coming CD-1 are watches that were designed for me to wear and that is why they lack some of the functions that would see them as better "scuba" watches.

I don't know what they're talking about; they must be pro divers?
But I'd take that diving any day.

As would I.
If I was going deep I would use a computer, but otherwise I would be happy to just run off this watch

OH dear, it would appear I got this detail wrong, only 5 blue dials from the planned 50 are with Blue 701 and second hand. All made by the way, and now the first 3 who have seen this that are on the list want Blue. Hmmm, well this will be the LE of the LE then!

Relax, guys, I never said there was anything wrong with the dial... in fact, I love it.

My SHOM doesn't even have a 12 o'clock marker and its been the most legible ever

Great work, still
