233 vs. 270
233 vs. 270
Hey guys, I'm looking for my next watch and I'm considering a few:
Rolex Cameron
Rolex new Seadweller maybe
AP Diver
Panerai TBD
Other
I really like the 233 for a PAM and it seems to still be a standout for the brand and collectors. I just saw the 270 today which seems to be the same watch but with a 10 day versus a 8 day reserve.
Does anyone here have experience with either they can share on the watch, impressions, likes dislikes etc? Pics below, they seem the same really (other than the 9 on the 270) but i like the idea of a 10 day

Re: 233 vs. 270
Not that it really matters with such a long power reserve on the 233, but the 270 is an automatic.

didn't know that, i would prefer auto i think. Your right though as it doesn't matter i guess either way with that long a PR
Re: 233 vs. 270
Neither one is my kinda Panerai with Plymouth fuel guage and a date. but if I were forced to pick I'd take 270 for the 9 next to subseconds ala Pam127
Re: 233 vs. 270
dome, dah da dah dome...
but throw in 8-day pr, gmt, '50 case, it's a compelling overall package, but not traditional pam dna

I love the 233. The 270 is too thick IMO.
Re: 233 vs. 270
BTW, JTB, do we have matching Hermes straps??
Re: 233 vs. 270
i assumed they were the exact same case, size, etc...good to know...Perhaps the rotor etc makes it thicker. Thx Matt
Re: 233 vs. 270
233 is amazing but I felt it was too large for my 6.5 inch wrists. The 392 fit much better. I'd love the new thinner 1392.

Well, I've had, or have currently all on your wish list except the 270. As far as Panerai choices, out of those 2 I would go with the 233. The thickness of the auto in the 270 is the turn off. If I remember correctly you had a 312 with the auto. I had that one as well and it was too top heavy because of the auto thickness. The 233 wears great, smaller than a normal Panerai. It would wear great on your wrist.
As for the others the new SD43 is great. The Cameron is top heavy and too tall compared to the new SD. SD43 wins between those two for me.
AP Diver is great. Classic ROO. It will wear big on your wrist, but you have some bigger watches so it might not be an issue. Personally I would go Royal Oak instead with the 15400. The bracelet is a work of art.
