Liking the new PAM 632

Post by blowfish89 » Sat Oct 17, 2015 3:15 pm

Never had a Panerai or paid much attention to one but recently tried on a few and I'm starting to develop an itch for one in the future. I thought I liked the 005 or 111 the most from the base PAMs (000/005/111/112) but this new PAM 632 really seems to have the combination of features I wanted on the dial:
- Painted dial
- Seconds hand
- Logo
- 44mm (or smaller)
- Gold hands
It has a Tobacco dial, 'dirty' color dial (I think) but 'sacrifices' the open "6" Panerai style and displayback.
Has the same handwound Unitas movement.
There's also a new white dial Pam with blue logo on dial.

Oh I will. I'm not buying right now. I think the 005/000/111/112 is a safer bet for flipping later?

I also like the 512 and the auto version but a manual wind and screwdown crown is not a combo i want.

Edit: I hadn't seen the PAM 422 - now that is really more lovely but I suspect it will be 47mm like the 372 again. Must try one on.

005 and 111 are not considered Base.

The 422 is exactly the 372, essentially. Just sapphire.

If you like the 512 but not manual, go 572 or the newly announced automatic 512 (forgot ref number).

I saw this and got wood for a second-I dumbly thought they had made my wildest dreams come true and made a 005 with a dirty dial and the 8-day movement.

Instead I find out it's their new "entry-level" model with snap-on case back and spring bars, and 6497 movement.

Basically an f-u to collectors. "Hey, our profit margin is only 5000% on theses things. So since you asked for it, will cheap out even more and drop the price by 3%."

Thanks Fiernze

Yeah, OP does this all the time. Their watches look great, but the mark-up always makes them seem like they hate their customers. I know all luxury items are...luxury. But OP definitely reminds me of " You can shear a sheep many times, but you can only skin him once". I think they draw blood on many a model.
