You see more T dials for sale because there were more of them made.koda240 wrote:While we're on the topic of 243, I don't understand why the T dial is supposedly so rare and therefore demanding of a premium yet every time I recon the 243 that is all I see for sale. I would like another 243, but want the most recent one I can get. I don't care about the T dial, but find it odd that there's far more of them for sale than an L series for example at any given time.
I owned a J, if I buy another it will be an L or M series.Panerai7 wrote:T dial will flake and dust on the dial eventually.
So unless you're a purist even though 243 has nothing to do with pure Pam then get Luminova.
I love that myth of more desirable T

Agree. Wish i hadnt gotten rid of my L series. It had a full service and new bezel. Arghh. The flip bug got me.CGSshorty wrote:I owned a J, if I buy another it will be an L or M series.Panerai7 wrote:T dial will flake and dust on the dial eventually.

Yup.matt.wu wrote:The T-dial is more desirable. It's not a myth. The reason is that even though there may be more now, over time, the general population will have them replaced with luminova service dials/hands, and all of the sudden t-dials that are well cared for are desirable.
Yeah, but we're not talking about all Panerai. We were talking about 243s.Panerai7 wrote:I guess one day in the future then they will be.
However 243 is not a Pam to look for with T, it'll never be a T- dial PreV or PreA.
No, it'll always be a T dial 243 if you don't change it out .Panerai7 wrote:I guess one day in the future then they will be.

That makes sense. Thx m@matt.wu wrote:The T-dial is more desirable. It's not a myth. I agree with all that has been said.
If you have a diverse collection the 243 is the way to go. If you have a small collection the 24 or 25 could be more versatile. The 243 has a smaller dial / bezel but it is taller and sits differently on the wrist. I have a 6.5 inch wrist and love the way it wears. No doubt it is a beast but on the newer style PAM rubber, the OEM Assolutamente or a properly sized custom strap I have worn mine comfortably for days. On a separate note the Automatic models wear more comfortably for me as they have a thicker case back and sit higher so the lugs don't rub against my wrist bone. I sold both manual models (390 and 000) with that being one of the factors. I did enjoy the 24 and only sold that as I knew I would prefer the 243.
Here are picture of my original 243 as the current one is being serviced.
Some shots I took of size perspective on what I consider a flat 6.5 inch wrist.
Some more 243 eye candy
Here are a few pictures of the 24
