Re: 512
I think it's about perfect. 42mm is a great size for the rads. At least on my wrist

Re: 512
I have a 512 and 372 and I love both of them. These 2 made me realize I really didn't want or need a 44/45mm PAM.
The 42mm 512 looks bigger than it is on the wrist since the dial and crystal take up most of the face of the watch and because it's so thin and light, it is extremely comfortable to wear on the OEM alligator strap. I've yet had the need to change out the strap.

Pics of David and Goliath
I tend to wear the 372 a centimeter or so higher on my wrist, just because it's more comfortable there. Makes the size of the watch sit and look better there as well, so it all works out.
The thinner strap of the 512 makes me more comfortable wearing it lower on the wrist, the lack of a crown guard accommodates wearing it like this. In the end I wear each in these positions based on comfort, but it works out because lower on the wrist, the 512 looks bigger.
With the 512, you expect it to be comfortable, the lugs are small and low, and it's a THIN watch, for a panerai. So when you put it on, the lightness of the watch exceeded my expectations of comfort. It feels great when you notice it, but it's light enough for you to forget you're wearing it. It slides under a cuff easily, so I tend to wear this on dressier evenings, when I'm less likely to get myself into... shenanigans.
With the 372, I hoped it would be comfortable because of the more streamlined case over the 127, but went in with expectations tempered. However, since the lugs are low and the case kind of hugs your wrist, it was much more comfortable than expected. Most of the thickness of the case is "above" where the lugs sit, so it was surprising how well it wears.
However, I've never measured my wrist.
